Can you actually claim you see a scenario where losing your liberties is okay? That there is a point in time where you would NOT MIND giving up that which you define as freedom? Becuase unless that is so, unless you would ACTUALLY be willing to live without freedom then no.? It is not an option. "Give me liberty or give me death" is not a choice, it is a lifestyle.

Well, I am told that outside of the USA "right" is "left" and vise-versa. USA considers pro-abortion far-left so the "abortion is OK but maybe talk about it different" style of thought is seen as kind of centrist view, at least as far as my 24 year old brain has grasped. It's the most confusing thing to have the reversal of styles the way it is, but it seems to be the way. I could be misinterpreting the australian and EU views as global,? but i've thought Canada was the same.

Perhaps you were referring to the internal bleeding comment, I actually got that off the internet on a web site that watches asian and middle-east news as an exclusive, most of the news i get there is in fact irrelevant to nearly anything of value to a real society, but sometimes a big? profile case shows up they touch on. As for the other part....I try not to watch CNN. They are becoming the FOX news of middle-left. I prefer MSNBC, which is more concerned with the oil spill ATM

Having trouble keeping track of what replies are where to what in this new format. I would not claim a lack of love among muslims? for their community, but I would without hesitation claim they have a greater lack of love for MY community. Give me the option of dropping a nuclear bomb on Arabia OR helping them via new infrastructural constructions and financial bonuses, and I would choose the infrastructure. It is my fear this is not the universal choice.

If there's so much as a rumor that you are associating yourself with a terrorist group, or even a group the government doesn't agree with, you basically disappear off the face of the earth. They don't even look for evidences and no one knows what is? being done to these prisoners. All you hear in the head-lines is that people were arrested on suspicious grounds.

I have visited Muslim countries, and what one sees on CNN bears very little? relation to what one sees there. Just like here, husbands generally love their wives and children, people don't want too many insane restrictions from religious nuts in their lives. The anecdote you allude to is no more common there than Hell's Angels gang-rapes are here. Should we be judged by the standards of biker gangs?

I have never seen evidence to support this claim, so if you have any relevant news articles I would? greatly appreciate it. The only things I come across as I scan the internets and news, are things like an article I read a few months back where a man older than 70 married a 13 year old bride through Shariah law, and consummated that marriage, only to have the girl die of internal bleeding. When I read the news I have access too, I can only feel mortified.

This is a classic point of argument I see people always fall back to in this kind of discussion, and it's not an easy one to navigate. Your side believes that it is a small number, that these radicals do not speak for the whole, but Mine believes that the "silent? majority" as an old president would say, agrees with the vocal minority. One need only look to the fact that non-muslims are in essence banned en absolute from the Islamic heartland of Arabia.
