and the 2nd thing is that when gorsky was talking to the dr, she tells him events that actually happen, such as the fire, stabbing blue and helping another patient to run away. and later we see that she actually stole the lighter and the knife so,? if her actions had an efect on real world, why there is no mention in the real world of rocket, or her death?my guess:sweet pea lost her sister (rocket was already dead) and thats why she entered the asylum. escaping there was her way of moving on.

i think the lobotomy cause the brain damage (i refuse to use the word "success" in this brutal thing), so, babydoll was no longer aware of anything, but at the same time she was free. and the thing that gets in my mind is that sweet pea did run away, but since she had to make it on her own, she was still in her fantasy world, and that is why she saw the young boy from war and the wise man, because she needed that asistance. besides she ask for blondie and amber, when they were in? fact imaginary.

Also, who made up the fantasy worlds? When it got to the ending, it looks like both girls did. Because Babydoll never really met the wise man? who was a bus driver in reality. And there were actually 2 fantasy worlds overlapping each other. I was thinking the Brothel was Babydoll's fantasy and the Gun fights belong to Sweet Pea because she has to cope with her sister's death somehow.

You forgot the fact that blue kept telling her not to go into her fantasy world. A lobotomy is supposed to prevent you from making your own decisions. Meaning, if blue told her once, and? she WAS fully lobotomized, she would have stopped fantasizing, but she never stopped.

Close, but not quite. The lobotomy was successful, but she was happy. She didn't realize what was happening, but she didn't care. She was at peace. She had helped Sweet Pea escape, and the high roller/doctor? had released her from the troubles of the world. No more worries. No more fears. Just peace.

I like your take on the movie,too but what if she smiles because she's free? now?I mean it could also be that she doesn't remember all the sad things that? happened to her (the death of her sister and her mother,the stepfather sending her to the Lennox institution,the death of rocket,amber and blondie). and she doesn't react when blue's shouting at her,she just doesn't care. ;> but that's just my point of view and I'm not sure if I got the end right soooo,never mind:D^^
