I felt that way myself at 14, I really got into riding them after 17. Try and work your way up in the park. If you live near Six Flags, that is. I recommend starting with the Log Jammer, Gold Rusher, then when you're feeling braver, Ninja, Colossus, then you can work your way up to Riddler's Revenge, Viper, Batman, Scream, Tatsu, and finally tackle the baddest of the bunch: Goliath and X. Scream is the best ride in? the park in my opinion... although X certainly gets your adrenaline pumping more and leaves you confused as to which way is up or down.

omg when? i first went on this on my first trip to six glags when i was 11 it was my first big rollercoaster and i was soooo scared. then when we were just getting ready to go down the hill my older brother screamed "omg! your harness is broken!" i cried so hard. but it was kinda funny now that i look back on it

In that park: Batman, Viper, Riddler's Revenge, and Scream all have that same side-falling-drop, and they are all steel, and they are all designed by Werner Stengel. I suppose the side drop is so they generate the same amount of kinetic energy but don't take up? as much space.
