I am not selling a DVD for those who want to major in Geology, Petrology- the study of naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals. You really need to further you're research. Yes there are thousands of named marbles and colors but only 4 structures and this not a "science" this an understanding of what your painting. ALL marble are based on these structures and once you know the 4 you are able? to "vein" any marble correctly no matter what the colors are. As I suspected you don't know yourself and this is the very first thing you learn when studying marble techniques in decorative art

As for using something else, I know others use a rag but to apply the glaze, they use a brush or roller. Totally different way to do it and more time consuming. : )

Good tip. That's? how I have done it, too. However, now I recommend that the customer seal the edges that might be loose, then prime, paint and faux over the paper. It has worked many times and that eliminates risk of walls getting messed up and having to patch them up. Less labor, too. But thanks for the comment.

Use paint sprayer, keeps baseboard & floor dyer, max water on walls,muchless water used, apply water like painting a car, (3) very fine thin spray coats.Strip top to bottom first layer only. Wall at a time.Keep wet moving, dont slack lol. Same with backing on next go around. Dont try to cheat lol , skill makes speed. Be what you do. lol figure that? one out. Have a great day folks. :-)

Only if the wall is freshly textured. It has to be primed before it? is painted. If it is already painted, make sure the paint is a satin or egg shell sheen. Satin is the easiest to faux on knockdown but you can do it with an egg shell.

Since the base coat shows thru a bit, you can come back with pure base coat paint (no glaze) and just dab a bit on darker section. That will work. Try out on a board making a darker section to see how much you would have to add. I have never had that problem happen, though, to me.? : )

You should use the existing color as a basecoat cause your eye will see the color thru the faux painting and will match your furniture even though you have added a color on top. What you should do is paint a poster board with the same color as the walls (same sheen, too) and then play with colors on the? board before you attempt to faux the walls. Let me know how you do. Have you considered the system I sell to do the color wash?

It depends on what surface you are painting on. Slick surfaces need to be sanded and primed, then painted with Satin sheen wall paint before you faux paint. You? can use Eggshell but it does make the glaze dry faster than Satin. If you are painting walls, then no priming is necessary. If the walls are flat, then you need to paint with Satin over it. If they are Semigloss, then you are taking a risk putting Satin over it, unless you prime. Hope this helps.

Sure. If you want to see what? other newbies have done, visit our website and go to testimonies and pics on the menu to the left. You can also view other pictures on our facebook page. Do a search on facebook for "faux painting". We should come up on the first spot, if not look for "faux painting, faux supplies and articles". Always practice on poster boards first. Yes, Poofy? I really didn't have time to come up with a better name. For the most part, people don't mind the name. Sorry if it seems silly or weird to you. Who knows, maybe one day, when God brings this patented system HE gave me to a larger audience, I will have named the Poofy Pad something else. Any suggestions? I hope the name of the? tool doesn't keep you from seeing the value of it. : )

Hey there. Just curious. Have you ordered any of the kits from my website? I can't seem to find your email address in our records. As for the burnt umber, yes, you can use any brown. The burnt umber is in the purple family. Some people don't even use? the brown for the Old World. They just use the golden brown color.

This was paint I? bought at Walmart and it was called antique white. Since then I have told customers to use any off white color. It doesn't matter. Sherwin Williams has 2 that are nice, Ibis White or for a warmer tone, Summer White. Just make sure you use a satin sheen.

Hey there. Thanks for the comment. On the website store we have the basic kit for $39.99. There's the Faux Marble and Basic Combo kit, too, for $48.50. You can buy just the palette and poofy pad but I would not recommend cause you will not know how to properly do corners or edges and how to care for the tools. Plus you get a free E-book with kits. ?

absolutely beautiful. I've been looking all over youtube for a video like this! Sponge painting looks horrific but this is amazing. It's bold, yet soft & blended, & it looks million times easier than sponge painting. This is the EXACT look i want :) but i went to this website & all i can buy is a 15 peice set for $90.00 & i dont need all of that at all,? nor do i have that much money to burn. Is there any possible way i can just buy the palate pad & the poofy pad? thanks :]

Dear Sweeper5, this is much easier than venetian. But it doesn't look like it at all. Venetian has more transparent look with lots of trowel marks. This looks like parchment paper. The pads are easy to clean with? a spray attachment on your hose set to hardest setting. I have used pads up to 6 times depending on how fast I clean them after using. The system is easy like playing a piano, but you only can play a tune by practice, if you know what I mean. See pics on my site sent by customers.

I'm digging this...has quite a venetian plaster-ish look, at least in the video it looks like it. I've just finished doing venetian plaster in our bathroom, and that was one heckuva lot of work! I'm thinking about giving this a try...is it really as easy as it looks. I love this parchment finish very much. Seriously thinking about buying your whole kit. Just wondering, how hard is? it to clean those pads, and how many times can one reasonably expect that they can be re-used? Thanks!
