Nice shot of the mountains...too bad you had to listen to traffic at that point. Thank goodness I live on a dead end road with very few? homes and traffic noise. Starting to look a bit jaded there, my good sir. :-) Those store blends are weird. You hear? very few pipe smokers addmiting to like them... or even ever smoke them at all. Still they seem to sell pretty well. The big brand here in Sweden is called "Hamilton's mixture". It's not bad, but it's a bit one-dimensional. Last push! Go, go, go!! -Mike

I love your wilderness videos and make me want to do more hiking and biking and get the New York grunge off of me. lol I have a question about your beard. I? tried growing a mustache and a beard but the whiskers were so sharp that i eventually decided to stick to shaving with my straight edge razor and do the clean cut look. But my question is does the hair ever get annoying when you sleep or eat or does it not get in the way at all. And does it get hard not play with the hair? ;)

- howdy, A - this is the second rails-to-trails in this region? of British Columbia (Canada, eh!) that I'm aware of - the other is accessed in Cranbrook and is called the Isadore Canyon Trail which is also along an old CanadianPacific Rail line - that one seems to go on forever towards the east - not paved, though, like the one between Kimberley & Cranbrook - this one's deluxe! ; ) - thanks for coming along on the ride - MM

I say life is too short too not have fun but it's also too short to screw it up by doing stupid stuff. So, I like to compromise and do fun things that are mildly dangerous...LIke pipe smoking! haha Just my $0.02. I think the older generations are losing their "edge" primarily because of poor diets and lack of exercise. I mean, just look at you!? You're out walking the world and you probably eat right and it seems you're enjoying life with an excellent disposition. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi Maniacal Mikal, ? As a response to why people "cut it out", I think that it's hard to remain a child at heart while dealing with responsibilities: rent, house payment, kids,etc. It seems as people get older they have to cut out the play. I don't know much of rebellion at that time but I'd bet it's cut out for the same reasons. You look like the spittin image of my Pop. Have a nice day, week month, year.

That would be Turn, Turn, Turn by The Byrds (with Pete Seager I believe) I am one in few of the younger generations who happens to enjoy many of the classics! As for the crazy risky actions, I have never been a big fan, I take risks (Snowboarding, Repelling, Rock Climbing, White Water Canoeing, Canoeing in the Boundary Waters [the trails on the canadian side are pretty sketchy], etc). But never decided it would be a good idea to do any of the aforementioned? whilst inebriated in any way...

howdy, M - it was pretty nice getting back to those Cranbrook trails - seeing bears/cats in Cranbrook has been very rare - Kimberley trails used to have quite a few bears/some cats, but with the continuing development within or alongside the various recreational trail systems, bear sightings, while still occurring, are starting to become rarer. 50 kms - okay, not quite? that far ; ) - let me see if I can find a map - the loop was roughly 8 kms - a bit of an elevation change, but nothing drastic - I consider it a moderate hike since I took a bisecting trail up the side of a small hill rather than go all the way around and come up from the other side - snowshoes were very helpful with their metal cleats - it's easy to spend most of the day out on the trails if you wanted to - thanks for coming along - bye4now, MM

thanks, Mark - by the end of the mosey, I wasn't in quite the dour mood as I was 30 minutes into the walk when I saw how my? happy moseying grounds had been so dramatically thinned of trees - there's going to be thinning in the major part of the park, too, but thanks to public outcry, it won't be as traumatic...I hope - ever the optimist, eh? ; ) Yep, the pooch enjoyed the trek, too - enjoyed it better once he got home and out from harm's way - bye for now, MM

Thanks, Mark - I'm good? till the end of March, early April snow-wise for sure - tried some Boswell's Maple Leaf last night - had to keep a tight rein on my puffing so it wouldn't bite, but otherwise I found it quite sweet, woody and with some nice nutty-fruity things going on - used the aluminum Kirsten pipe - worked well - thanks again for the share - a bowl of Black Ambrosia in another couple of hours ; ) - bye for this time, MM

hey, Josh - I've only smoked 2 bowls in it so far and I'm quite taken with the pipe - the bowl's not too big on this one, but it still provided me with about a 50 minute smoke - flavour comes through a bit stronger, too, for some reason than what I? remember of the tobacco in either a cob or briar - it's a snap to clean during & after (now that I was able to free up the 'valve' - aka end cap - that was a fight) - give me a dozen or so smokes to pass final judgement on the Kirsten - take care, MM
