I'm going to bet that your stuttering/jerking/delays is from not enabling Vertical Sync. VSync aligns frame display with monitor refresh rate. Not that it cuts down your frame rate but it's supposed to make sure that a full frame is displayed on time with the screen refresh. I believe the display stutter is from? the video card frame buffer being busy at the time the screen is supposed to be displaying that particular frame.
