The most mesmerizing pipe I've seen was? a HUGE Elephant's foot style pipe with a beautiful bamboo shank I saw while in London. I was lucky enough to see the pipe's maker actually finish the pipe and place it in an incredibly ornate box... then place a £750 ( about $1300) price tag on it :( ,

You're right? Kel, that is my favorite pipe of yours. (lol, don't think I've seen that many) And most of mine are similar. Love the "tooth", "Free Hand" style....and that is one of my favorite stem bend shapes. Guess that's why I like Eric Nording's so much. But then....like beer.....I've met very few pipes that I didn't like.

It's the continuous auto focus, but the strange thing is, it doesn't happen in my room. Only outside and I'm not sure but I also think it only wants to happen at about that time of day when the sun is like? that. (but I'm not sure about that) I'll probably just have to go to using manual focus.

Aperture changes the Depth Of Field, the lower the number, the smaller the DOF. Which means, there will be a small depth of "in-focus" or sharp area. If the number is higher, more depth will be in-focus/sharp. From the video, you said it was on aperture value 16, but it didn't look like that at all. At the very least, you and the wall behind you? should be in-focus at the same time at that value. Otherwise, the closer you are to the lens, the smaller the DOF

Hi Kel, do we mean the same fluid? Isopropyl-alcohol is pure alcohol. It evaporates in the air, so there will be nothing left if you wait a day or two before smoking your pipe again. Moreover isopropyl consists of alcohol, there are no chemicals added! There are some mixtures with isopropyl,? i mean they are maybe bad for you and your pipe, but I never heard that concerning pure isoprop. But for sure we have to decide that on our own... I made good experiences with it.

I've heard this... I know some think it's ok. But it is poisonous and not for internal? use. It has chemicals in it to make it taste bad and make it poisonous. I've read several places years ago about using it (on websites about pipes) who say it's not a good idea. For topical use it is ok, but having it in a pipe and then sucking it into your mouth? I don't know, I could be wrong, but for now I'll stick with alcohol which is made for internal use. But to each their own I say! Cheers, Kel

yep once you've bitten your lip? guaranteed you're going to bite it again. I too believe that any damage to your skin will allow things in, how many times once you've bitten your lip have you got a mouth ulcer? I know I do. The skin is a wondrous thing that has many defences against infection but any damage and it's an open door way. Abstinence to smoking with any damaged skin in your mouth, to me, is very sensible. All I know is, life causes death. (eventually) If I give up my pipes, my cigars and my motorcycle...what the hell, am I safer? Who knows? Where's the joy....fun, etc. That ain't living. I don't think open flesh matters... Your entire body is an open flesh, your skin is like a huge sponge absorbing everything around you. It has to do with how well your cells can fight of change and mutation. That is why people like George Burns can smoke 10 cigars a day for 80 years and live to be 103. I agree with your take on vintage cigars. I have a few in my humidor that have aged for some time, but always try to smoke what I have within a year. I agree in my experience that cigars lose a lot of their flavor after a few years. I've aged some 10 years or more and found them a lot less? satisfying than those I've let age 1-3 years.

Here's my two sense. I have one. Like it. (They ARE cool looking) It may smoke a tad cooler but the bowl gets hotter faster because mine is not large and also maybe because I may smoke it too fast. (so slowing down is probably in order) However, some will mistake "tongue bite" for heat when it's often the kind of tobacco and not the temp.? I have many shorter pipes that smoke cool when I'm smoking slower and using tobacco that's not known to bite. That's my story...and I'm sticking to it! :-)

PR vintage years refers to the tobacco plant not the age of the tobacco. It? refuses generally to the type of wrapper on the cigar. They are consistently growing new types of tobacco, because tobacco is so easy to crossbreed. 1990 uses the 1990 Honduran Connecticut Broadleaf PLANT TYPE of tobacco. same goes for the 1999 or 1992 it refers to the plant type not how long it was aged. Vintage is in the name because the tobacco is also aged a long time too in that cigar. 12 years with the RP 1990

Think a cigar like a stew. The longer you let it cook the the more the flavors will "meld" together. Since "most" premium cigars use multiple types? of filler and wrapper and binder. The longer that ages the better all the flavors will "meld" together. Of course just like a stew at some point you cant over cook it and everything dissolves and every bit taste the same. The same can happen with cigars. But usually it take 50+ years. Just like wine can be over aged. But it takes a long time.

I bought an estate filter pipe, and when it arrived there was a filter still in it that I'm sure was probably the filter that came with the pipe, it was a brownish almost black colour... Disgusting. and when i did? the salt and alcohol treatment on it it was crazy the amount of gunk that came out of the filter chamber, turned the salt almost pitch black. Whatever i don't plan on ever smoking it with a filter, it seems like a waste to me.

Yes it's ok to take the filter out and smoke without it BUT filter pipes will come with an adapter to go in place of the filter. Because most filter pipes a 6mm to fit the filter. and most pipe that are not filtered are 3mm. so if you don't use the adapter that comes with the pipe(you can buy on for $1) IMO the draw is WAY to lose. and because of the increase air turbulence of the 6mm with no filter you could get some moisture problems too. In short if you don't like the? filter use an adapter!

Your welcome, that style pipe stem for me has always bit me a lot less, especially in the bent system pipes, due to the hole pointing? upwards and away from the tongue. Also that tobacco is incredible, lots of flavor, absolutley no bite at all. I have very senstitive tongue bite issues, however I can't even feel it with that tobacco.

You are right on about you will never know how good a pipe smokes until its been broken in. My first pipe is beat to hell i smoked it all summer long, Three times a day, Everyday, I tore though a pouch of Captain Black a week back then. The stain has been worn all off, Were the stem and tenon meet is cracked. The stem has a trench on the mouth end where i used to clench it. And the cake at one point was terrifying... But god damn if that pipe isn't my best smoking? pipe.

Smoked my first cigar when i was 13. One of my? moms Double Diamond Menthols Filter Cigars. horrid little things now but back then it was alot better. My mom switched from cigarettes to mini cigars because Double Diamonds cost $2 a pack. I first tried weed in the 7th grade. First cigar was when I went to San Diego while in the Navy at about 21 years old. I bought a few and smoked them and never? stayed with it. Smoked weed almost daily for about a year after I got out of the Navy. Now at 29 I'm happily into pipe smoking and occasionally cigar smoking. I don't think I'll ever get into weed again. That stuff really does mess up your head.

Funny to talk about Cigars in relation to price...I just went down to my local corner store and bough a 4 pack of Garcia y Vegas - English Coronas for 8$ so that comes out to about 2$ a stick. And i must say they? are a good cigar although they don't burn for long (Probably around an hour) and they are a great smoke, Pencil thin burn, and great taste like rich tobacco and cedar (Or atleast what i think cedar taste like) .

Cubans for 50 a piece? I think you're being a little over? the top sir. Wonderful CC's like Bolivar, Trinidad, Ramon Allones, Hoyo de Monterrey, etc are all top quality CC's for a little over 6 bucks (depending on size and ring gauge). I personally love smoking Padron's which happen to be a little more expensive but still offer one of the smoothest smokes I've experienced thus far. There are WONDERFUL cigars under 5 bucks (Londres Maduro) but smokes what you like, regardless of price!

Lovely pipe! I don't get hung up on names of pipes etc, as long as they smoke well. Why is it not a Rhodesian? Is that not the definition of a 'bent bulldog'? Doesn't matter! My humidor is normally around 72%, but I filled up my humidor to the brim, and the humidity level rose to 80%. I am fine with that, because I have about? 40 cigars in my humidor, so the higher levels distribute it to each cigar better. And I keep all cigars in their wrap, so it needs a bit extra humidity.

I believe some cigars smoke better at different humidty levels. The suggested range is 70-72, but I only adhere to that if I am storing for long term storage for aging. If I plan to smoke them soon, I experiment with different levels, but that's just by personal choice. Also, if I get new cigars I try to maintain them at 70% for about a week, because I never trust how they were kept? prior to me obtaining them. That's all based on my personal opinion.

First of all, I like to point out how nicely the title lines up with the sirens in the background. Secondly, I agree, don't tell anyone on the record that you smoke, if you are only an occasional, non-inhaling, pipe/cigar smoker. Glad to know you have better days to look forward to. Tennessee's had a smoking ban in effect since, oh, 2006, I think. Which is strange, now that I think about it, because there's a? tobacconist in Jackson, TN that still has a smoking room. I guess it depends on zoning. yes, I know that it is an oriental but in references,every day pipe talk, AND in the descriptions of? blends put out by the tobacco companies, it is always listed separate, as though it were a different group. I consider something an aromatic if it is flavored to be anything distinct ie : vanillia,whiskey,rum,cherry, you name it. For example i would say Captain Black White has a vanilla flavor to it so it would be an? aromatic but Captain Black Gold i would not because it doesn't taste like anything "candy" like. At the same time Half and Half is said to be cased with something but all i can taste is the nutty burley and naturally sweet virginia. Besides lots of english blends are cased lighty.

I am sorry to hear about the situation, Kel. A kid? was harrassing me at school and outside of school. I got physical with him and it only resorted to him calling the cops on me. I am not a person who resorts to violence, but he was only pushing me farther and farther each day. I would say definitely get a restraining order if you possibly can. I'm no stranger at all on dealing with crazy people... if it's a form? of severe dementia, there's usually someone closely related to that person, most probably willing to help softning things down, with a powerfull influence on the trouble maker. If it's just a "mild" case of crazyness, being upright, frontal and coherent, usually ends up by helping them to go bother someone else... Any way, best of luck G.

Kel, if the situation can't be handled legally or confrontationally, and you honestly believe that this person is genuinely suffering from dementia, my suggestion would be to speak with social services and, if you're successful, a case worker will be assigned to that person, his/her family will be contacted, and then the legal dealings will be handled by them and social services. But they let other people thumb their nose at their policy all day long because it's something the people running ebay approve of. That irks me.
