Sorry... but the 4.7 doesn't? have near the power to cram a connecting rod through the block. It rarely happens with high performance alluminum blocks. And if it was a connecting rod it wouldn't sound anything like that at all. "damn near", but not...

A push rod is not the only rod in an engine. Ever hear of a connecting rod? You know the ones that connect the pistons to the crankshaft. Ford doesn't have a counterpart to this motor. The 4.7 was damn near reverse engineered off? of Ford's 4.6.

Good thinking "Ford guy". I'd bet you a billion dollars its not a rod, because the 4.7 isn't a pushrod V8. And the Ford counterpart of this motor is the? 5.0, which is far slower and less powerful than this motor. Keep the Jeep, fix it, drive it for a million more miles.

Another thing it could be is a dropped valve seat.4.7s,3.7s and the hemi? have problems with valve seats dropping out.Chrysler installed them in with a loose fit.

Had the Same Prob on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee with 152k on it. Tore into it and it turned out that the timing chain guides had broken off and got down into the oil pan and where? restricting oil flow from the pump to the motor. Changed the chains and guides and all was good. It was crazy the left bank was retarded 7 degs. and was still running fine besides the knock. I guess it was such a gradual wear that the computer compensated for the timing. Good Luck

I've got a 4.7L 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited. Does anyone know how to remove/replace the PCV? This is the NEW location (not? on the oil filler tube) ... it's on the drivers side and under a cable bundle and very hard to get to. I read that it has to be unscrewed ... is this true? Someone also mentioned a "large socket" if so what size? How do you do this job?
