That was the straIght? road mate. The whole area is full of twisties! The wing was fine as long as I didn't treat it like it was a sport bike. It was fast in the straights, hard to slow down and drug pegs in the corners if going too fast. But it was fun!!

lol.... That's the 2nd room I've seen that didn't have carpet. The? room Matt and I stayed in had a 55" plasma screen, beer tap, lazyboy recliner and jacuzzi tub. Yeah - it's probably a good 45 years old and they figure nobody is going to be in the room long enough to enjoy amenities anyway. Just kidding about the beer tap. No plasma or jacuzzi either, lol. We DID have wall-to-wall carpeting though. :)

In the US, speed limits are generally set based on what the perceived largest vehicle that they think will be using the road, i.e. 18 wheeler, school bus, UPS truck, ect... Exceptions of course for muni's that want slower speeds for? some reason.

Local communites/governments can have a say over how fast the traffic limits are on roads passing through them. I think this community has done so because of livestock trucks and trailers? coming in and out of the local properties. What the camera did not show was most of them had cattle or horses on the properties. Yea the wing handles well enough for the Ozarks, I might not keep up with the sport bikes but I don't know if I want to either, after all I still have to ride 700 miles home! :D

Looks like you loving the radio. For such a big county, I'm surprised how low your speed limit is. In France that road, and the bends, would be limited to 55 mph. You must think I'm constantly speeding :) I don't think you will have any problems with the wing once you get use? to it.

Not sure. I give it an 80 percent chance of going. It depends on a few things I have? brewing here. I will know in a week or so. So you will be taking the Wing? Don't you have a Tiger? Have you done the Ozarks before? It's more of a sport bike type of place, but I took my big Venture last year. I was able to keep up. I was wishing I had a sport bike though. I rode a st1300 on the tail of the dragon....the Goldwing should handle? it just fine, I think it's a matter of rider skill more than the bike....which I am riding as much as possible to get used to it's quirks. I know the Tiger would be better in the twisties but it's that LONG ride there on the interstates that make me want to leave the Tiger at home.

Ah I don't like to get mixed up in the "real biker" argument. To me the word "biker" describes leather vested, Harley riding, criminals, which I don't want to be in that category. I prefer to be called a motorcyclist because it includes ALL motorcycles and their riders. the UK sells? a lot of K and R series BMW's that are nearly as much bike as the Goldwing I think.

I don't think there is an all round perfect bike.? Trick is to get one you really like that meets your everyday riding style and tweak it a bit. Even then you'll find it isn't perfect for everything. What's great for around town may be a pain for long distance and vise versa. :D

I really like my FJR, it's very good for long distance riding. The BMW R1200RT has some advantages, it's lighter and has cruise control. The FJR beats BMW for reliability by a mile, just looks at the extended warranty Yamaha offers. 5 years unlimited milage for $389! The BMW 1600GTL is hopefully more reliable, and it has all the bells and whistles, at the cost of more money and more weight. The best things about? BMW are test ride availability , and they come with low seat height options!

Britex3186 I would have thought the law enforcement officer would have gotten at least a partial plate number. Since the description is so "nondescript" I guess pulling every black cycle and black helmet was in order. My State of Ohio is dreaded by truckers. Our State Troopers (Bears) are notorious for giving out tickets. They even ticketed my daughter a couple weeks ago going 77 in a 65 mph zone. $132 lesson learned. ? At least this time, she paid the ticket and didn't ask Dad..

I had some wave runners several years ago. They are indeed fun on the water. You should see Lake Conroe now, most of the people with docks can't use their boats because there is no water to lower the boat into. Very sad.
