We only give up our freeedoms when we let either the politicians OR the clergy tell us how? to think. If you can't think on your own then there are plenty of countries in this worlsd that will gladly tell you what to think or believe.

As an American the best part of this song are the church bells near the end that signal that it safe to come out once again, that NOT the cannon fire brings chills and tears every single time. I luckily have the honor to witness this on the Capitol's steps as and employee of the U.S. government a? PROUD GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE of the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH every year and I encourage all to attend our concert on Independence Day every year. God Bless the United States of America.

how dear we to forget our grandfathers died for us for a life in freedom and peace. so many wars this land have seen, so many blood vanish into the soil of the old world, but yet we ease? and don't see that legacy of this time long gone. the one give up his freedom for shield earns neither, safty nor liberty. why does we have to do the same mistakes over again, not see but the worse, not hear but the sound of war is comming again. today or tomorrow, it shall not matter. we won't survive...

It actually commemorates the Battle of Borodino, where although the French essentially won, the Russians held firm, defending? till the last man, and the French had stepped too far. It was the turning point of the entire war.

Uhh, which powers of Europe lost their monarchies because? of the Napoleonic wars? The big loss of monarchies happened after in WW1, then to a lesser degree after WW2. You also act like that's something to celebrate.

It refers? to Napoleon being defeated in Russia in 1812. That's why it's a theme of the Marseillaise slowly changing into a theme of the Russian anthem.

It does not matter what nationality the composer or the musician or what the music is about.? Music is universal and can reach anybody or everbody. I like Russian, French, English, German, Spanish, Latin American, etc composer. Napoleon was defeated, but many countries in Europe rid off the monarchies because of him, even so he became emperor.

It is, and? there are other parts of the song with pieces of the French anthem, it signifies the French invading of Russian during the war of 1812.
