My point is: it is deemed acceptable in Britain. I watch a lot of live comedy, part of the fun is the comedians handling hecklers. Comedians often come? out and target the front audience. But when I watch hecklers in the states it feels uncomfortable and rude, it doesn't look like it's done in good taste. I find it an interesting cultural difference, and think the Americans have missed a trick

I think it's fine if individual comedians want to encourage hecklers (Jimmy Carr comes to mind), but it shouldn't be deemed acceptable to heckle. You wouldn't heckle a play, and you shouldn't heckle stand-up. People are paying to see a show, the comedian is being payed to perform and his/her career can be affected by performance? outcomes, and hecklers fuck with all of that.
