The 2600K was picked specifically for a gaming PC. What I stated in the video is that we will not be using the integrated graphics core on this chip. The integrated GPU is good for HTPC or non-gaming PC's that use a board with the H67 chipset. Hope that clears? it up a bit. Thanks for checking out the video.

We had the same dilemma when picking parts for this video. We went with the Core i7 2600K, the P67 motherboard, 8GB of Corsair DDR3 1600, and a GTX 570 video card. The X58 solution runs great and is the choice for a super high end PC at the moment, but socket 1366's future is not secure. With the performance you can get on socket 1155, it's hard to recommend anything else unless a multiple GPU build is what you are looking for. ?

Lol, no problem. Just keep in mind that with a P55 board, you're not going to be able to run video cards at x8/x8 if you ever plan on going SLI or Crossfire. That's really not a big deal though, because the difference in bandwidth between x8 and x16 is pretty minimal. The P55 boards also only have dual channel memory where the X58 have triple, but? the difference is so minute that you wouldn't even notice anyway.

Yes it does. That's the cool thing, no need to install anything at all. It performs a bit for bit copy of all data. You can even migrate to a smaller drive as long as the amount af data being transferred is? smaller than the destination drive.

Usually, the board has to be removed to install the CPU block backing? plate unless your case has a cutout behind the CPU area. If you plan to water cool the video card, you will have to install a water block on it which requires removing the old fan. You also may have to move things around inside the case to make room for water cooling parts (like removing case fans to install a radiator).

Some motherboards have a 4pin PWM (Pulse-width modulation) fan header to allow the board to control the? fan speed based on system temps. If the CPU fan is only a 3pin the extra pin goes unused. The CPU fan I installed does not support PWM and only has 3 pins but is keyed to fit.

I'm assuming that the board is a socket 775. i would stay away from the Pentium dual core because they do not support hyper threading which could make a big difference on an editing? machine. Check out the Core 2 Quads. The pricing isn't too bad. Your editing would gain more from extra cores and hyper threading then it would from pure clock speed.

Yes you can use regular SATA cables. SATA 2 cables will have metal clips on them to keep them plugged in. The only drawback to using regular cables is? that they may not transfer data as fast as the newer cables. With most hard drives this isnt a problem because they don't saturate the data bus anyway.

They need to be plugged in the proper polarity to work.? Try reversing the cables +/- to see if they work. The manual for the board isn't anything out of the norm, the hard drive LED is listed as HDD- LED and is red in color with the positive cable marked with a +. The power LED is labeled PWR-LED and is orange with the positive marked with a +. The reset switch plugs into the two blue pins, and the power switch wires plug into the green pins.

Hey bud, it's me again. I got the motherboard installed, but I came across a problem. The fingers on the I/O shield don't touch the components. Everything seems right, the standoffs are in the right position, the screws are securely in there, but the? fingers just won't keep contact. Did I put it in wrong? I've tried all sorts of ways before putting the screws in, but I get the same result.

Doesn't matter what kind you use as long as it fits without stripping the screwheads. I? will say that the ones with interchangeable heads sometimes won't fit into small spaces because the end is too wide. Good Luck!

This CPU fan has a seperate backing plate for Intel boards.? When used with AMD boards it just attaches to the existing bracket. This is an old design though. Newer fans have much different mounting methods.

The main thing is to make sure the case? standoffs (little posts that the board screws into) are lined up with the screw holes in the board. If there is a stray one poking the back of the board it can cause a short. Be mindful of static shock. Touch the components by a metal part before handling (like the PCI bracket on the video card or the metal surrounding the motherboard rear ports).

Definitely. If you buy a processor in a box that includes the CPU fan they will usually include pre-applied thermal material. This? is fine for casual users, but overclockers will want to clean this stuff off and apply some aftermarket thermal compound for better temps.

I rarely use a wrist strap, but put it in the video to show the proper safe way to do it. ? If you don't use a strap, make sure you touch a metal piece on the case before handling any parts. When you pick up parts, try to touch a metal bracket or something rather than the sensitive circuit board area, etc.

The video begins with the machine already apart. I show? how to put it back together, just reverse those steps to take it apart. Remove the screws from the bottom of the PC, then remove the keyboard, remove the screws from under the keyboard, then pull up the palmrest. The touchpad cable is underneath the palmrest and you see it through the hole in the palmrest. The cable in held in by the little plastic clip, just slide it towards the cable to open it.

Does the part number match the original screen? Try removing and reinstalling the video cable to see if that does? the trick. Make sure to remove the battery first, of course. It's possible you received a bad screen or there is something else wrong on the motherboard. The one I replaced was identical to the original and came on with no problems when I turned it on.

The Asus Sabertooth X58 will not work with the Core i5 760 because that processor is a socket 1156 and the board is a socket 1366. The other components will make a great system (graphics are decent but not great) but make sure you either change? the board or the processor. We just picked up the new Asus Sabertooth P67 board to be used with a Core i7 2600K processor. Both are socket 1155 and will likely fit into your budget. If the CPU is too much, you can get a 2500K for $100 less.

The real key is to take into account the screen resolution you are playing at. The 560 is indeed an excellent value? - it scores highly in the 1900x screen res range, and looks to be the type of card which would last you many years. The 550 is still an excellent card, most notably if you own a monitor that runs at 1680x1050 or less resolution - at this resolution, the 550 and the 560 rate very close to each other.

I noticed by the specs that the board you want has the H67 chipset. Those are generally aimed at people who want to use the GPU integrated into the Sandy Bridge processor? (which you would be disabling anyway to run your HD6970). I would check out the P67 boards and maybe check out the i5 2500 "K" CPU. They are just a little more, but they are unlocked for overclocking. The PSU might be a little weak for that card. I would recommend a 750W or higher. Have some room for upgrades.

Looks good to me. Don't expect super? high resolutions from the HD6850. You may need to turn down some of the settings to get newer games to play with good framerates. Good luck!
