Yes, kind of true. But programmers also work under a ridicolous time contraint, and high level language? programming becomes more simple, you can do more advanced stuff in shorter time, compilers optimize pretty well, but ofcourse you could probably write better optimized assembler if you had the time... I saw the making of Uncharted 2, they optimized on low level programming to get a good frame rate and better graphics on that game. So the art of low level is not completely dead.

I'm unimpressed. You can barely recognize anything, the gradients are just wrong (orange, red and grey for skin color?) and the palette's all wrong, too (what kinda orange is that). This is most likely streamed? from a hard drive (IDE64). The 2010 NUVIE version is just so much better in every respect! ;-)

Sad to think that's the case, but probably true. I don't know the size of the cartridge ROMS, but it's possible? that the video data could be on a cartridge, which would be the only source I can think of that's fast enough to stream that much data in that short time. I know that SID music alone can take several rasterlines of time, so there's probably not enough left to visit all pixels w/ updates for 60fps video. Demos do amazing things, hence this is believable even if fake ;)

Combination of factors. #1 terrible marketing by Commodore, #2 market inertia - always hard to displace a machine that? lots of people, esp. businesses, have and have lots of software for. #3, the Amiga was a new kind of machine and a lot of people didn't understand what it was for. Everybody expected computers to be either for games or for business, and Amiga seemed to occupy a third space, something we're all used to now but which didn't really exist at the time.

I'm against ever increasing prices. My dad paid $10 USD to PRE-ORDER Donkey Kong Country. Neither one nor the other, they're simulators. Emulators for this stuff is a difficult task due to the hardware differences between one device and other and also because they didn't have binary roms or cpus, only logic circuits.
