Hello mate, I find pipe carving really difficult and have to work hard at it, and I still don't get the results. The pro's make it look easy. I guess it's all down to practice and experience, so keep at it. I tried to make my own stems once. I spent hours on it, only to ruin it as it was nearly finished. I really admire the guys who make such perfect stems. I expect? some sort of small engineering lathe would help. I'd love to help you out with the box split but sounds expensive. Cheers, Dean

Patience is what's missing here. Simply place your now No. 2 pencil back in a properly humid humidor and flip once a week. I learned as a teen, when my well intentioned but ignorant Dad would buy me cigars too far before X-Mas. Faster methods might be? as mentioned by NeptuneCigar, but you do risk swelling - thus wrapper crackage. For those of us with more time to spend, but less resources than someone in Al's position has - give it a month.

i heard if you turn your shower on at high heat and let the steam fill your bathroom that is a good restoration method. You would place the cigar in the bathroom with? all the steam and the shower turned off for a few hours and you do once a day and when its not in the bathroom its inside your humidor. I'm traveling to Cuba legally from the US with an educational license from CSU San Francisco so I shouldn't? have any problems with immigration when I return to the States. Cubans best thing you can do is to go to a duty free shop on an? airport and look for them there. or you simply just get them online and let them send it to you (the safest way) because cubans are only illegal if you resell them inside the american borders. hence you can smoke them yourself but not give (sell) it to anyone else. From what i have read i could be wrong. just try the duty free shop but there is a limit on how many cigars you can take.
