Tuco's smile at the end speaks loudly about their relationship at this moment: the grudge they had against each other is over. True, they still need each other for the treasure, and they might not be "friends" like you and your best friend are, but they gained each other's? sympathy and respect. After all, if they did not, they would have turned against each other at the end and tried to get all of the treasure, which didn't happen. it's a fantastic scene

It does not fall short of stating that this scene brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it, probably somewhat because I have two brothers, but also because it is a brilliantly written scene. The music fits perfectly, and it is at this point when you realize that "the good" and "the ugly" have become partners searching for a lost treasure. The good has compassion towards Tuco, and by offering him his cigar, he shows this,? plus kind of a "thank you" for saving my life from the desert.Brilliant

sorry but im not agree wit that. Clint "the good" give him the sigar beacause in that moment he feel compassion for his fellow . But they aren't firends at all. The ugly its just a ruth man? who think only at a possible personal advantage. Carson tresure in that case...

He did not, he understood he? had gained a true friend. When Eastwood hands him the cigar he could just as well say "I would also never refuse you a bowl of soup. I have no soup now and your belly's full so have a cigar instead, my friend." that's all implied in that short sentence "and after a meal there's nothing like a good cigar." why else would he give him his cigar if he doesn't consider him a friend?
