I am the only cigar smoker in my group of friends. On every big occasion they turn to me to supply the stogies. For my friends bday last month I brought a bunch of different smokes. Lots of them are new smokers and get me to cut the sticks for them. I cut a love story for one of my buds and turn around to cut another for someone else. I turn back around to see that he lit the wrong end!? HAHA. we all had a good laugh. I guess he found the 'nipple' shaped foot too welcoming.

As long as it's butane you'll be fine. Zippo makes some nice butane torches. Just stay away from the ones that use the petrol based zippo fuel. (butane is petrol based? as well but much more refined)

Yowzers dude, sounds a bit like you don't know what you're talking about or you got your facts confused. Butane is what you want for the purist flavor (or lack there of). Cedar sticks are quality wood matches are good as well but will color the flavor of the cigar. Zippos are the worst way to go, they give cigars a chemical taste that usually hangs? out for the entirety of the stick.

i don't like using petrol based lighters like zippos at all because it adds a slight petrol taste to it, especially if it is a mild cigar.? Cedar sticks are amazing and matches are alright too. Butanes alright since it doesn't smell so none of that weird aftertaste a zippo gave me. Cedar sticks are the best.

probably the worst thing you could do to a cigar is light it with a "torch" or anything using butane. The best way to light a cigar while maintaining the cigars natural flavors is by a zippo or matches. With a normal lighter butane is dragged through the cigar and? it's flavors are dulled.

its all a personal preferance and how you yourself light a cigar. if you're old school you can use the 3 match technique but it takes much longer. most people use a butane simply because its faster to toast the cigar and faster to light. if your looking to take your time def use a match or a free flame lighter? like a zippo.

Actually, my screensaver only works on a Mac and is just? part of the way the operating system handles display sleep. I put all of the photos in a directory and tell the system to use that directory when going in to display sleep. I looked in to creating a screensaver system that would work across platforms, but I couldn't find a solution that looked good.

There are only a few books that I can recommend. For general cigar knowledge about all things cigars: The Tobacconist Handbook, by Jorge Armenteros. For cigar reference (Cuban cigars): An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars. And, for Non-Cuban cigars: Perelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars (2010 edition). Hey Doc. I like to do the same things you do with your cigar bands. I also scan them and print them out on a sheet of paper. Then I actually put a rating of 1-5 on each band on the copy. It? helps me remember which cigar was the most pleasant for me and which were not to my taste. It also gives the newer, more unexperienced smokers a guide that I show to my friends and family. I don't show them the results until I survey people who have smoked them because it's my taste so I just put the average.

Great to see you too, Colbie. Your idea about a coffee table is cool. I've seen people use a resin to cover the bands. Several coats of clear resin would make a nice surface. Also, I've seen guys lay down bands, put resin, then lay down more bands, and repeat with the resin. The final effect is 3-D.? Very cool.

Ive seen some? really cool ideas on some forums threw out the years. One guy put bands on a poker table. All along the sides where people rest there arms. Another idea I've seen, "which I'm gonna to do to." Is use a normal wooded table and fill it with bands all over the top. I have a little coffee table in my cigar lounge that I'm going to use. i see you posted this quite some time ago so you may already know the answer. But if you dont and for the sake of others who dont know, long ash keeps your smoke nice and cool. this preserves the fidelity of the flavors. if the smoke gets too hot, it will take on a more nutty flavor. Also if your cherry overheats, it will turn the cigar mushy and then it will just taste gross. oh? and its just fun to see how long you can get it to hold on for :)

I think it's confusing to think of it like drinking through a straw. Just breath through your nose and notice where your tongue is. Leave? your tounge there and try to breath through your mouth. You shouldn't be able to. Now make your lips in a circle almost like your whistling and try make air go into your mouth without breathing. Your jaw should drop a little and your tongue kind of moves back into you're mouth. You should feel air going into your mouth but not into your lungs.

Great video. I luckily never had a problem with this concept.. But I used to? always describe it to new smokers as "it's like when you suck water into your mouth while in a swimming pool", But most of the time that just conjured up a reaction of "YOU DRINK SWIMMING POOL WATER?!?". I find it takes practice till you get it right. It helps if you play the didjeridoo! ? I can suck in smoke, blow it out and sniff in some smoke for the pleasure of it, while breathing into my lungs independently of both and never inhaling any smoke. I know that most pipe and cigar smokers can do that, but it never fails to astound me :-))
