I think it also has less storage and, therefore, applications. I think it is good for people who have access to another computer that can do everything else (e.g. library / work / home computer). My brother has has this for about 9 months and it has survived much abuse. He has never needed? the disk drive and is able to to everything else on it he would normally do on a laptop. I hope to buy on someday!

i am most likely to get this netbook very soon, the closest competitor i saw in price/specs was the newest gateway netbook that actually offered an amd athlon processor. very few netbooks offer that. practically a laptop w/ sighing specs but for a? netbook, extremely good. however, around $50 more and doesn't offer the wireless n.

I got a cd that says driver, install. But there is no CD on? the MSI. When you recieved your MSI how did you get wireless connection? I use mine to take notes in class so it travels with me, gets stuffed into my backpack with all my textbooks. Sometimes REEEALLY stuffed, at least on Tues and Thurs. I've not had one problem and I've never thought twice about it. Asus might be more solid but the Wind isn't a fragile little toy. The amount of times? I've almost knocked it off my desk, then slammed my hand down on it to keep it from falling, that says to me it's not fragile at all. Don't know if yours is defective but mine is fine.

Well, mine does. I feel I can't carry this inside my backpack, because I feel that the screen will not stand any banging around. It just feel too fragile. Sure it'll last if you don't expose it to any stresses, but what's? the point of having a netbook then. My other one, an Asus 701 is far more rugged, but I don't like it because of the puny screen and crappy keyboard.

I'm holding mine right this minute and NONE of what your saying shows. Sorry. The laptop I'm using right now is showing a lot more bending and warping than the? You're wrong. I can clearly see the stresses in the lcd display when moving the lid. I don't know if that will shorten the life span of the lcd because it might break prematurely, but it sure looks and feels very fragile. The netbook? overal feels all right (not great) sturdy wise, but the lcd screen itself on the inside does not. It should have been shielded from the various bending motions and stresses much better.

For me,? with wi-fi and backlight turned down about halfway, I can get 4.5 hours or so on it. I haven't really tried it without wifi or with backlight all the way down, but it'll be more for sure.

It runs iLife pretty well. My buddy actually installed VM Fusion on it and runs Windows XP off a USB hard drive and it seems to work pretty well. I've also installed iWork 09 on it and it runs pretty well also. I haven't tried any other Mac software tho. But if you're? thinking about doing any kind of gaming on this forget it not nearly powerful enough to do it. This is really for web browsing, emailing, web cam stuff, and some light word processing and spreadsheets.

This is a bit more complicated, but what you need to do is use a program in Ubuntu called gParted, which will allow you to manually delete the Windows partition. After doing so, resize the Ubuntu partition until it fills the entire hard drive. Afterwards, you may want to update GRUB settings, as the choice for Windows XP will still be in the menu. (and have no function) I would search around on the internet before doing this, as this process carries a lot of risks if not? done right.

I ended up choosing the ability to run both Ubuntu and Windows, but afterfully using Ubuntu for a while, I wanna fully switch over to only using Ubuntu and erase Windows. Thanks for the compliment! Regarding your question: The ability to boot from an SD card is dependent on your computer's BIOS. Once you get into the BIOS, find something related to the "boot order" in the menus. The devices listed here (Hard Disk, USB, Network, etc.) are the only ones you can boot from. If the SD card reader is? in this list, then move it to the top and proceed! If not, I'm afraid you'll need to grab a USB stick.

agreed i would never had been seen dead with a sub notebook sized pc but this little baby is well speced for the price and i have the 160 gb u100 version with the turbo mode? activated with 2gb ram upgrade and it nearly runs as fast as my presario cq60 full sized notebook, it even boots faster, and ive already triple booted it with stock xp, vista and linux mint and it runs sweet on all 3 os's fab little thing :)

Great review. I've watched a bunch of these now looking for a netbook, and this? white nc10 is my firm favourite. MIght have a go upgrading one to 2gb and then experiment dual booting with windows 7, which seems to work just great in some other vids. I'll probably end up with the azerty version (french), going to look in the shops over the weekend ;) Definately going to have some fun with this.

Hi all just a quick wee question re the Sammy NC10 Just unboxed my new one, usually with these type of things the instructions tell you to plug the batt in and charge it anywhere between 12 and 24 hours before using. Usually this is in the instructions and is quite prominent, because the first charge is so? important ( Ive mucked this up before to the detriment of the batt ). Thing is I dont see this anywhere, so what do I do. Do I initially charge it for 24 hours?

I had this samsung nc10 for over 7 months now and the performance if this netbook doesn't dissapoint. I can't say the same for the built quality. The outer shell of this netbook is not as sturdy as other netbooks like Dell, Lenovo, and even Acer. The worst thing about this netbook is the cheap fake chrome accent that? was falling a part after 7 month of my wear and tear.

Many thanks for the review I've now bought my Samsung NC10 in white I'm delighted with it. One little point I'd like to pass on, the keys towards the right handside instead of producing the lettter U, I, O, P etc? on the top line your get 4 5 6 and J on second line produces fig 1, 2,3 etc. The correct letters can be reinstated by presing the Fn key simultaneously with the F11 key. Hope this helps. Thanks once again for the review
