Jesus died for our sins which entered into the world by the fall of man aka Adam and Eve eating from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and evil. So if they never existed, and evolution happened, then what did Jesus die for? If nothing, then why worship him? I shan't be reading your shameless and spammed plug, rather I'll just deal with what you've written here. If you'd like to know how incremental evolutionary steps? can be advantageous, watch this video on the eye for an example youtube. com/watch?v=PhDWCujcFEY You say that on micro-evolution can occur and not macro, well what biological or genetic barrier is there to evolution beyond the species level? Also please define 'kind'.

Imagine a fish with part fins, part feet with fins evolving into feet. What survival benefit would there be? The fish couldn't use its fins or its feet, and there are no fossils showing such a? creature existed. They only exist on automobile bumper stickers! Read my Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
By: Mogley52. on 14 Aug 11, 11:46:23
NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible in nature (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.),? but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). Species couldn't have survived while their vital tissues, organs, biological systems were still evolving. Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species.

God began with a perfect creation with no death and with perfect harmony between all animals (no meat-eating animals even, Genesis 1:30). Evolution doesn't with all this. God gave the genetic ability for limited evolution? for necessary adaptation. But there's no genetic ability in life for macro-evolution. Read my article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS

Yea, I was being sarcastic, however, people lived for longer after? then, so I don't see the basis for the objection.
By: All4Him92. on 07 Dec 09, 05:20:45
when u were talking about the story of Adam and Eve, thats not all true? what u were saying. When God said that they will surely die, He did not mean right then, God meant that they would not live forever as they would have if they hadn't eaten the fruit. Also, the 900yrs was total, not from the time that Adam sinned, tho no one knows how much time passed before they got to that point

Carbon dating is enough proof for me, and btw mathematics isn't? proven either. Technically nothing can be proven...
By: theatheistguy. on 24 Oct 09, 23:44:04
Strange,? I'm from Northern Ireland and I'm currently doing some charity work in Israel and Palestine, so I can say from a first hand experience, religion, be it Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc, well and truly screws things up. And it's easy to point to the past, with crusades, inquisitions, witch trials, etc but also within the present, where we have Bush going to war because god told him to, leading to the deaths of a million Iraqi's and Afghani's. So yea, religion is doing pretty badly.
By: theatheistguy. on 24 Oct 09, 23:36:15
Ok well if god created man via evolution, and man is by nature, sinful, then this not a 'deserved' punishment and instead something inflicted upon us by an apparent all loving and just god. So there is still the need for a fall from grace moment, though even this brings into question why as to why ancestors would pay for an individual's mistakes. Also, evolution and the? age of the earth (around 4.6 billion year btw) have not been proven, you can only have proof in mathematics.
By: maxbigwood. on 24 Oct 09, 20:28:14
Religion doesn't screw up anything, at? least christianity doesn't. Some people get overexciting about certian things and do stupid stuff. I don't see how that is christianity's problem. Some soccer fans get excitied and riot and kill fans of opposing teams, does that mean the soccer tewam "screws things up"
By: maxbigwood. on 24 Oct 09, 20:12:58
Not to mention that evolution has been proven beyond any reasanoble doubt, and they've already proven the earth is 4 billion years, so obviously I believe in those things. But I also believe in Jesus, his resurrection, etc. So I can belive in both of those things because I just do?
By: maxbigwood. on 24 Oct 09, 20:11:34
All right, I'll try to answer to what you said. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of mankind, yes. It is human nature to want to sin. Why does this sin in humans need to have been introduced by the creation story? Personally I think that humans are by nature sinful,? and you don't need the creation story to explain it. So humans can still have sin, and Jesus can still die on the cross for their sins without the creation story.

By: theatheistguy. on 19 Jul 09, 19:37:54
I'm not worried? about an after life, I'm worried about this life, and right now I feel that religion screws things up for a lot of us.
By: SuperTyrant20. on 18 Jul 09, 05:46:01
can we plz? stick to reality,If ther is an afterlife, then lets deal with it WHEN were dead
By: theatheistguy. on 14 Apr 09, 14:48:57
The one that comes to mind for me is 'by their fruits ye shall? know them'.
By: poetsonghotmail. on 14 Apr 09, 03:14:33
St. Thomas Aquinas is a notable author who read much of the creation story as metaphor. Terms like the "Fruit of the Tree of God and Evil" come off as rather clear metaphors if you learn more about Hebrew literature. Frequently in the Bible you will see the term "the fruit of" used to describe consequences. For example "the fruit of you body" and the "fruit? of your ways".

Before Christ? Those practices still happen today, and should be still practiced by the Jews, but thankfully they're not. I think if Jesus was invented, then he was done so to give the Jewish people's existence meaning and definition, to support it in some way.?

Hard to cope with? Well I and the billion other atheists/agnostics/etc are doing just fine thanks, and even if belief in an after life was comforting and even had some benefit to a person's health, would that make it true? You as a person will die, as will everyone you will ever know, however, what makes them; cells, molecules, atoms, energy; will continue in the universe? forever, and whatever happens after it too. So the ideas of the 'circle of life' and eternal life are kinda true.
By: theatheistguy. on 13 Apr 09, 19:43:56
Well if he existed, then he died? in 30CE, the gospels were written at the very earliest in 60CE but probably a decade or 2 later, and up until 120CE, but yea I agree with the rest of your comment, thanks.
By: theatheistguy. on 13 Apr 09, 19:41:33
Well before I go on I must make an addition to something you said, Adam and Eve? were forbidden to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but anyway. Where does this understanding come from? Last time I checked there was no list of literal and metaphorical verses at the back of the bible. As for the bible being taken as metaphorical for much longer than 150 years, where is your source for this?
By: poetsonghotmail. on 13 Apr 09, 18:43:40
Understanding that not all verses were meant to? be understood literary is not cherry picking. The fall story is clearly metaphorical, "tree of life", "fruit of the tree of knowledge" where understood as metaphoral along with the creation account long before anyone had ever heard of the theory of evolution. To say that Christianity is changing is just untrue. If anything the hyperlitteral denominations of the 19th and 20th centuries are new.

before the christ the world was harsh, extreme, if you were to sin you were to die,..,( by being stoned)., ne ways,., could it be a chance someone made up,. jesus being gods son,., jesus dieing for our sins,. so we wouldnt have to worry about being stoned if we sin., i donno it sounds like something i would make up?
By: lilmic1987. on 13 Apr 09, 18:19:22
you know ppl dont want to? think,, when we die, we wont exist,,. that is hard to cope with., right now,., i think i would never not exist,., and saying i would not exist,,.. well its just not very pleasing,., i think ppl need hope,., oh yah it does sound nice,., eternity,., oh yah,.,.,
By: ShellySummers. on 13 Apr 09, 17:51:24
well the bible wasn't written till more then a hundred years after he died so yea i think a few tales could have been stretched a bit and perspectives of situations changed. Like the old saying goes "there are three sides to a story their side your side and the truth" unfortunately we will never know the truth in this life time since man loves screwing with god? andtelling others what to believe
