Most of the times, Ronaldo uses tricks when not even necessary, or when there's no defender close. Tons of players can do those tricks when nobody is around and you can't deny that Messi is the best dribling player at this moment. Ofcourse, Ronaldo has his shooting technique, but it's Messi's character that makes him a better player overall, IMO. Ronaldo prefers fame and attention over having fun in the game, Messi doesn't care about money or other things, he just enjoys? the game.

Familiar with Ride, less so w Coldplay, but did go listen to "in my place" to see what the fuss? was about. Only the opening of the Coldplay song reminds me of "Dreams Burn Down". The opening, granted, sounds borderline identical. But the rest of the song sounds very different to me. I like Coldplay too but personally I prefer the hazy swirly shoegazey goodness of Ride. This song (and Ride's entire "Today Forever" EP) are among my favorite shoegaze songs ever.

It's even worse where I live - people refer to all electronic music as 'techno', not realising that techno is a rather specific genre in itself. And to think they waste their time listening to pop? and rap etc... so sad. On a happier note; you've gotta love Stoneface and Terminal! Blueprint is my favourite song by them.

How cool was Andy Bell back then!.I remember copying his image when I was just a teenager . Slim fit chinos , stripey tshirts , canvas shoes , short neat hair & this was 23 years ago!! everyone thought I was a weirdo then now everyone seems to be copying his image? & thinking their original . What great days they were Skateboarding to the likes of RIDE , Curve , My Bloody Valentine , Oh to be 15 again!! These bands gave us so much happiness . Lawrence was the greatest drummer ever !!!!

I love Ride to pieces - honestly the biggest influence on my guitar playing out of anyone out there. Apologies for the plug, but youtube "Calm as the Colour" and check my band out if that's cool? We're not out and out a shoegaze band, but man if I had my way we? would be haha! The live version of this tune at Brixton is what REALLY blows my mind though!

@pfg333, I disagree, the Today Forever ep was? quite pioneering with it's use of layered guitar effects combined with classical instrumentation. Their sound in general wasn't pioneering, but was a winninh formula, load guitars and dual harmony vocals aka the Beatles. They honed a greater sound on that ep. By their 2nd album, they simplified their sound to some kind of sub-pop (nothing to do with the label, just my "label). I'd say they were at their artistic peak with the Today Forever ep.
