yes, it will work fine on a D5100, except for the auto focus, which will not work. Get the AF-S 50mm? f/1.8G if you want auto focus.

I have just got this lense for the d40x. manual focusing is not a problem with me. but it's supposed to be a sharp lense, and it isn't sharp at all. i get a misty fog on my pictures. people also say it can be used for any photo's, except it won't let me focus it any further away than i am to my pc screen right now. i tried to take a portrait shot of my sister, but it will NOT let me focus? it, the only place it will actually focus is SO close up on the eye. please help!?

This lens Has an aperture ring and in order to control the aperture in camera you have to lock the aperture ring at its max aperture. The only time you should ever unlock it from f22 is when using on a manual film body. It doesn't mean its stuck at 22, its just so the lens can stop down with control? from your camera... If your using any digital body, lock the aperture ring at f22 and forget about it. it will still shoot at 1.8 if the ring is locked at f22....

Demonstrating Zoom-Creep on a new Nikon AF-S DX 18-200 VR II lens. The only extra weight is the UV-Filter. Without the filter the movement is somewhat slower but it is still there. The lens hood is not attached yet. With the lens at the 18mm position and hanging down while being carried around, it still expands slowly, unless the new 18mm lock switch is engaged.

I'm surprised there aren't more of these range finder tutorials on Youtube. I believe the D3100? has a bit more upgraded range finder where it shows two or three point out off focus on each side (6 in total) ...kind of like a ruler on either side instead of just two arrows.

sorry to disappoint ya, d3100 can't let? you take the focusing screen out. katz optics can do it for you but it'll violate the nikon's warranty. if your camera is having a problem, nikon won't? touch it unless you pay up front.

Sorry, you cannot quiet down the shutter because it? is mechanical and it is 'as it is'. Only two options: Rent a Sound Blimp for the D90 (big, bulky, expensive, uncomfortable, but does the job) or rent a D3100 or D5000 (they have quieter mechanical shutter engines).

The 50mm ?/1.8D AF can focus automatically on the D90. No, D90 does not have AF-M but a AF and M switch by? the lens' mount. Please read your D90 User's Manual.

Oh, oh, while recording a movie that is. No, there is no auto focusing while recording a movie. You have to get your subject in focus? first before start recording. On page 50 of your D5000 user's manual, it states, "Frame the opening shot and press the shutter release button halfway. Shooting can not begin until the camera has focused. Autofocus is not available after recording begins; use manual focus to focus during recording" There's your answer, have someone focus manually for you.

thank you so much, i ve been reading tons of reviews on both of them but couldnt decide yet. i tend to favor the nikon because of the better quality of pictures when taking pictures using a high iso. also the built in hdr mode is pretty cool. do you also do underwater photography? i'm kind of an aadvanced? diver now and would like to start taking pictures of the beautiful scenery under water. any recommendations?

zur ultraschallreinigung sollte man vllt sagen das diese eh nur ein nettes feature ist was in den meisten fällen eh nichts bringt. wir persönlich haben die erfahrung gemacht das wenn staub auf dem sensor ist, dieser entweder so fein ist das er auf? dem bild nicht erscheint oder so grob das die reinigung diesen nicht entfernen kann. und mal ehrlich.. bei 95% dieser einsteigermodelle bleibt doch eh das weksseitige objektiv drauf ;) somit kommt eh kein staub an den sensor :)

Man sollte auch berücksichtigen, dass DSLRs eine bessere Filmqualität aufweisen. Das liegt nicht zuletzt an dem vielfach größeren Bildsensor, der in DSLR-Kameras verbaut ist. Das ist? genau wie mit den Bildern... Je größer der Sensor, desto weniger werden die einzelnen Pixel gequetscht. Vergleich mal einen 500? Camcorder mit einer Nikon D3100. Da hat die D3100 aber schon ein weitaus besseres Bild!

Es gibt sehr viele die DSLRs zum FIlmen nutzen, uns eingeschlossen. Die Bildqualität, besonders bei wenig Licht sowie die Möglichkeit von einer super Tiefenunschärfe hat man sonst erst bei Camcordern der 2.500 Euro Klasse aufwärts. Von daher ist der? arg beschnittene Videomodus sehr schade..

i've switched to canon because i couldn't afford a d700, and bought a used 5d classic, and it sucks in so many respects, most? important being its inability to nail focus with fast lenses (85 f1.2L for instance) even in the easiest conditions so far =[ trying now to swap to 7d or even 550d

out of interest what is it like at 3200 ISO are the images usable? I am currently using a Canon 1000D which I hate because of the crop factor, (it is also much lower spec than this camera). I was thinking of getting this camera because it seems like a bargain for full-frame, I've seen? some for £500. I already own EF lenses not EFS because I figured they would be useless if I ever go full frame, do you think it's worth getting this instead of say a 600D or 60D? Also what is the viewfinder like?

I think the reason why you cant use your EF-S lenses on a Canon fullframe body? is that the rear elements of these lenses are closer to the image sensor. So the big mirror of the 5d would hit the lens.

I? just picked up a used mint condition 5d and 24-70mm f2.8L lens. This camera produces stunning image quality and IMO is the closest to FILM that i've seen from any digital camera. Yeah it doesn't have fancy menus, fast FPS, exceptionally high ISO, but this is exactly why i bought it. It's a real 'photographers' camera. It keeps things simple and lets you concentrate on the image rather than the camera. And even at 1600 ISO, the shots are stunning.

Here is how i fixed mine, as I found I could not tighten the screws down any further. I cut small discs of Aluminium foil, a little larger than the diameter of the screw head using curved nail scissors. I then pushed the threaded end of the screw though the centre of the foil disc, to make a tiny washer or shim disc. I then reinserted the screw with the washer, tightened up, just perfect, it has not moved in 6 months of almost daily? shooting.

Your tool handling is very dangerous, you can scoop that hard steel tip across the lens element. Put your index finger on top of the screwdriver to prevent wobble and access the handle's rotating function; your thumb and middle finger should be lower on the shaft toward the steep tip. You're holding this tool like a full-sized screwdriver!? Otherwise a very informative video.

Hey, have the same problem recently, but I can only say - dont do this at home, spend some money and put the lens in official tamron service - same as I ve done. By front element loose U need to re-calibrate autofocus, what is impossible to make at home - trust me, it worth that money spended. And last advice - if U have loose front like this, stop using the lens, because 1st and 2nd elements can be damaged (they can crush each other) - thats what the serviceman said to? me, so Im passing it on

I shot this test in my attic. I was off focus a little bit on myself. But I set up the shot alone... The new 35mm F/1.8 is pretty good in low light. I cleaned up the grain with Neat video plug in. I noticed on different monitors the video is quite different from computer to computer. On my HD TV this thing looks amazing. At my work it looks like poop.

I do think that there is not any visible difference from 720 to? 1080 in a every day use, so 1080 imo it's another reason to appeal buyers, besides 720 is less memory consuming. I have anew generation dslr and i always use it at 720 p.

While the reviews for the TZ20 are not as good as the S95 i fail to see why. While I understand the S95 has much better low light performance, it seems to do worse within every other aspect. I own the S95 and Canon T3 DSLR and I can tell? you that the S95 @ F2.0 by far beats my Canon T3 with its 18-55mm kit lens. The images and quality are so much better. The s95 is a MINI-BEAST for those who can't take your Pro/Am DSLR. You can also shoot in RAW and control Shutter Speed just like a DSLR. S95 is a giant and can take down a number for normal DSLR with kit lenses. (KIT LENSES).

Go strait for the 400MM 2.8, the 100-400 has a tough time with sharp images unless it is bright day light to produce sharp images. I tried to self rationalize? for almost a year until I got the 300 and 400 Primes.

one? big problem... the push-pull zoom sucks dust! I have one, in one month I could see all the dust inside. And I'm very carefull when using it.

pretty smooth lens I'd say! @miltonsaurinaromero, uhm, the combo u've got there provides a much poorer IQ than the 100-400 @ any focal length. The 2x converter does very very mutch to the sharpness. Though the 70-200 without? any extenders the sharpness would be slightly noticably better (with 100% crop) than the 100-400 @ 100-200 focal length and wide open. still, I think a 70-200 f/4 IS and a 1,4x is a very nice combo in the 100-300 f/5,6 range.
