So ist es, ich habe selbst Vorfahren und heute noch Verwandte in Ungarn, Böhmen und Dalmatien. Viele dieser Gebiete waren ja auch mehrsprachig, da konnte man gar nicht einfach eine Grenze ziehen. Viele Deutschnationale z. 3) Zeit. Alleine Pula ist eine wahre Fundgrube, aber auch auf den Inseln kann man viel entdecken. Leutchtürme, Forts, Bunker und zum Teil auch alte Schiffswracks. So hat man vor 10 Jahren? erst die Szent Istvan vor Premuda entdeckt. Die Italiener feiern den Tag ihrer Versenkung ja bis heute jedes Jahr. Österreich als eigenständiger Staat wurde von vielen als Ergebnis der Pariser Vorortverträge gesehen, und so haben auch viele "Deutsch- Österreicher" ihren Staat abgelehnt. Jaja der Prinz Eugen steht als großes Reiterdenkmal auf den Wiener Heldenplatz. In seinem Schoss Belvedere wurde 1955 der österreichische Staatsvertrag unterzeichnet. Richtig, einmal im Jahr wurde auf der PE auch die alte Rot-Weiss-Rote Marineflagge gehisst. Die Deutsche Marine war da sehr anständig, in anderen Bereichen wurde ja alles österreichische eliminiert. Im übrigen war ich schon mal auf der Insel Lissa, heutiges Vis. Dort hat? man auch wieder den Löwen von Lissa aufgestellt.

Nicht die Preußen sind den Italienern in den Hintern? gekrochen, sondern ein gewisser herr Hitler, der seine neuen Verbündeten nicht zu sehr an die Schlacht von Lissa erinnern wollte. Immerhin trugen die Türme österreichische Stadtenamen und zum Skagerraktag im Mai führte die PE die alte Kaiserliche Flagge des Hauses Habsburg. I remember listening to Ray Stevens when I was younger and I always loved his stuff. It wasn't until after being a Shriner's Lady and experiencing several Shriner's Conventions first hand, that I realized how right on this song is. Shrine is considered the playground of Masonry. Blue Lodge takes a pledge against intemperance, etc, but an unusually visible minority among the Shriners seem to have forgotten they are Freemasons. Most of us really DO strive to be pillars of the community, hokey as it sounds. BTW, yes, I AM a Shriner (which also means I am a Mason). In Masonry, as in all? other things, the scum settles to the bottom. Most Shriners are quite responsible. Sadly, some are not.

@hqfedlegion: Ray did a music video of "Dudley Dorite of The Highway Patrol" and it's on his 1995 direct-to-home video movie, GET SERIOUS. This movie is also where this "Shriner's? Convention" music video comes from. The writer of "Dudley Dorite", Buddy Kalb, plays the character in the movie. Of course, as of now, Ray hasn't uploaded the "Dudley Dorite" video onto You Tube...but check eBay for copies of GET SERIOUS if you want to see the official music video of that song.

@20lbsledge: I first heard this song when I was a? kid as well. My grandfather had a couple of Ray Stevens cassette tapes. One of them was "Greatest Hits" on the MCA label in 1987 and this song was track two on the album. It's origins go back to late 1979...it was a single very early in 1980...his debut on the RCA label. The single reached the country Top-10 as did the album of the same name. Thanks to my grandparent's I became aware of Ray Stevens and am a huge fan of his.

I imagine this debate has been cleared once or twice by now, but the debate between salvation by faith or salvation by? works goes on - it was a major factor in the early opposition between the Catholic and Protestant churches. Put simply, individual verses by Paul and James can appear contradictory, but they're not in context. Salvation is by faith alone, but faith without works is an impossibility - the Holy Spirit won't come into a man's life and leave him unchanged.

Someone here mentioned googling his kids' interviews...yeah, I know where you're going with that. His son Gary's memories of life with Bing ("Going My Own Way") are devastating. I don't know what demons drove Crosby, that made him such a cruel father (to his older children particularly), and? I have enormous sympathy for those who loved him and suffered for it.
