nice vid jake. my mom scored an old Asus Eee PC 4G (one of the first models of netbooks i think) the other day and asked me to get it usable for my niece.? 4 gig ssd, 512 ram, etc. so i tried a few distros and settled on Lubuntu. TinyCore would have been nicer on it, if it wasn't for how choppy flash (youtube) was on it. i am in the process of stripping it of all unnecessary packages like XFBurn (no burner so no need) and other things she won't use, and putting on Skype. i may do a vid later!

Depends what you want to do.? XP is fine really. But if you wanna try Ubuntu just dual boot it makes it easy if you install Ubuntu after Windows.

no, desafortunadamente. como es una unidad de red y se supone que es un volumen o nundad de disco, no se contempla la autoejecucion. sin embargo al insertar el cd? musical. puedes ya sobre tu WMP darle reproducir y esa unidad.

HOla, te escribo? por que de todos los metodos que he visto para hacer esto, el tuyo parece ser el mejor, pero tengo un problema, al momento de entrar en la opcion 2 ,elijo mi usb y el sistema me dice que no tiene ni fat ni fat 32 ni ntfs por ende no es valido, lo estraño es que hice todo tal cual como lo hiciste tu, que puedo hacer???? sera que mi usb es de 4 GB?? muchas gracias, ojala que me ayudes.

Hola Mikev, hago todo el proceso, pero cuando esta en la pantalla de instalación de XP donde muestra las particiones, no muestra el disco C:, sino, la partición de la memoria con otro nombre (inicialmente la partición de la memoria tenia el nombre de D: ahora muestra solamente u:), que pudo pasar o como muestro la partición C: para poder formatear e instalar? todo este proceso lo hice en un mismo computador y copie los? archivos de XP en disco C:

Pues la unica forma que se te arruine tu pc seria q provocaras un corte electrico o algo asi, luego "si sigues todos los pasos del video no tienes porq preocuparte" ademas que cuando instalas cualquier windows (xp, vista, seven) traen? sonsigo una guia durante la instalacion, solo es leer detenidamente losmensajes q van saliendo durante la instalacion, si no estas tan seguro mira otros videos hasta estar 100% seguro. bueno? es que esa pc era complicada (acer aspire one) y no me aparecian las particiones del disco duro lo que hice fue meterle linux para ver las particiones y así poder eliminarlas y como ya no queria instalar xp le deje el ubuntu XD

El procedimiento de cargar Windows XP al flash es lo mismo. en la parte de Formateo solo tienes que seguir los pasos que te indica en el momento de la instalacion lo unico es leer con detenimiento los mesnsajes del programa de instalacion no? hay donde perderse Voy a intentar hacer Un nuevo video con Windows XP pero un poquito mas adelante ahora estoy con muy poco tiempo disponible.. Yo tengo 2 acer aspire one y me siguen funcionando muy bien, hace poco me compre una toshiba nb 200 fue un lunes en el ofice depot y para el miercoles lo tuve que regresar porque me trono le disco duro? ya no funcionaba nada y es raro porque las toshibas segun son muy buenas a menos que la tienda me vendiera algo usado o defectuoso, asi que recomiendo mucho acer aspire one esas si me han salido aguantadoras

in the eee 900 there is a 900 MHz Intel Celeron-M ULV 353 CPU, in the 901 there is a 1,6 GHz Intel Atom... I also own a 901, i run Windows 7 ultimate on it, it works really good, the only problem was to update the bios before installing W7. An other thing was that it's a bit hard to get the drivers for windows 7. I recommand to look for 'eee 1000h windows 7 dirvers'. (1000h has the same hardware as the 901, the only difference is that the 1000h has a? HDD and it has 10" screen.)

ciao, ho avuto un problema analogo con im mackbook e alla fine ho scoperto che era l'hard disk che aveva dei "blocchi" e ho dovuto sostituirlo....? se hai la possibilità dovresti mettere il disco in un altro pc e vedere come si comporta li.. o fare un ceck dell'hard disk con hdtune ma avrai delle risposte molto vaghe... Fammi sapere, ciao :)

ciao, ho visto il tuo canale e mi è piaciuto, senti io ho un acer one 521, ho un problema che persiste da quando ho acquistato il netbook,? sopratutto quando usa la batteria, quando eseguo un filmato in dvx avi etc ogni tanto si blocca, il led del processore si illumina al massimo come se stesse lavorando al 100% dopo 20 secondi il filmato riparte, sul task manager non compare un processo strano o che sfrutti il processore da farlo andare al 100%! le ho provate tutte tranne sostituire l hard disk

yay its fixed, I lost a screw and a screw cover, oh well no problem. I screwed it all in and then realized the video port didnt lock in.....So I had to undo it, plug it in firmly, then? re screw it in and then finish it...still better than over paying by 140 dollars.

Thank you so much. Now I have just got to order the correct screen.... gateway -LT2802U. I cant belive I had it for less than a month before the screen cracked.... Definatly hiding this one away so it never happens again!!! They wanted to charge me 200 dollars at best? buy to do this! I can get the screen sent for nearly 70 dollars and already have the old one out.... Thank god :)

Well up until 2 months ago we thought that CCFL to LED conversions were not possible, but, there is now a conversion kit available for a LTN160AT06 (LED) to LTN160AT01 (CCFL) for Toshiba and Acer 16", it's a flex wire cable which uses? the pre-inverter power from the laptop to power the LED screen. So it is possible, but the major reason these specific kits became available is because there is a global shortage of LTN160AT01's. There is no such kit for your laptop, just not yet.

To anyone who dislikes redundant or un-necessary steps: You do not need the "clean" command unless your drive was once made to be bootable before. You can skip the "Select Partition 1" step because once you create a? primary partition, it automatically selects that partition. The bootsect.exe command was used for making Windows Vista boot flash drives, and is no longer necessary with Windows 7. You can skip that command as well.

Not exactly. The whole reason for doing this is to completely clear the flash drives configuration defaults and force it into NTFS. Format via windows will only allow you to use FAT or FAT32. hey did you try running command prompt in administrative mode? Some times you don't get all the rights to the commands when you just open cmd. Right click on? cmd and then run as administrator. Hope that helps.

ive been using this bad boy since it was first introduced and sold at best buy for $229. its my main computer now, and i turn on my? desktop a couple times a month at the most. this thing rocks. good enough performance for web surfing, so light weight and comfortable to use on the couch or in bed, and the 6 cell battery lasts and lasts.

Radeon 4200 is onboard. It's part of the AMD 785G North Bridge.? Mobility just means Radeon gaphics in a notebook it has nothing to do with being IGP "onboard" or a dedicated GPU and Radeon 3200,4200, 4250 are all similar IGP "onboard" graphics. It's pretty good for onboard though and onboard IGP's can still have dedicated video memory not always shared. Just because it's not a dedicated GPU doesn't mean it sucks look at the new Radeon HD6250's they're pretty damn good IGPs.

I don't even bother with 3d games on my netbook because of some sort of retarded thing that causes me to only be able to walk without aiming and if I want to aim I have to stand still and? this applies for any 3d game with my netbook at any settings, so I'm always stuck with playing games made in the 1990's like wolfenstein 3d so I can play games without that problem

Oh yeah the point of this vid isn't that Linux is somehow better than Windows for gaming on a netbook but just that you can at least game with Linux on a netbook that's all. Certainly this is nothing Windows XP couldn't do and like you said there? is way more software for Windows.

there are the same number of emulators(or more) for windows, and a lot more games, therefore it's not necessary to put linux on your netbook. Most of the? emulators are open source, therefore ported to many platforms. I had a Asus EEE 701 with 900MHz Celeron (underclocked at 630) and it ran quake 1,2,3 Unreal tournament, starcraft, diablo2, and almost every game that came out until 2002-2003. Also it runs Nintendo 64 emulator at full speed

Jolicloud fucked up my computer horribly. It is supposed to dual boot with windows, but rather it erased my MBR and set GRUB up so Jolicloud was the only boot option, and I could not get back to windows. I ended? up hooking the drive up to another machine, pulling off my data, and wiping the drive and reinstalling windows. This is something that happens with alpha, and maybe beta quality software, but never with a 1.0.

Disgusting? Not sure how that applies to Windows!? lol Windows? 7 is not slow. It was voted BEST netbook OS on Lifehacker. Jolicloud was rated fairly decently also, but well below the number of votes Win 7 recieved. Jolicloud is OK, but don't kid yourself it can truly compare to Windows 7. It doesn't take advantage of all the hardware in your netbook, Win 7 does.
