quick question. I've seen this game in old nintendo power mags(ah the good old days), but I really never got the chance to see the difficulty of the game. The Sega Master System has by far the better, easier on the eyes graphics. It is always quite pleasant to look at a Master System game regardless of its game-play quality. The NES never quite got the hang of making a game look graphically good, usually dark tinted and just ugly? to look at even for its good games. The Sega Master System is way underrated in my view. Viva le SEGA!

Actually, Super Adventure Island 2 for snes is just like the remaining Wonder Boy game. You get armour, weapons and everything. It's one big game. Even Adventure Island 4 for NES has a slight RPG element? to it too, with one big map.

Here in Jersey (and the rest of the US) NES more popular then the Sega Master System, no arguement there. But everyone knew of games like After Burner, WonderBoy, Shinobi, Outrun, ect, even if they didn't own a Master System. ? WonderBoy had an arcade and a part 2 and 3. Adventure Island was obscure here compared to WonderBoy. But games like Golden Axe Warrior on the SMS were obscure compared to Zelda on the NES so it worked both ways.

Wonder Boy I is so obscure that it took me MANY years to EVER heard of it. I learned of it in 2009 or 2010. Whereas, I have known of Adventure Island since the 90s. Probably the reason? why the first game was discontinued and had to be remade as a whole was because that: No one knew, no one cared. Where Adventure Island was well known and many didn't believe it was a copypasta of Wonder Boy I.

I have to agree. You have to try out Hudson Select collection: Adventure Island on Gamecube, or PS2. It is not so much a remake of the First Wonderboy/Adventure Island as it is a true sequel to this particular game in the series.? I can't believe this game got just 'decent' ratings back in the day. It's one of my favorite video game series of all time. And to me, and this is? purely my opinion, New Adventure Island on the Tg16 is the best game of the series. Although I do like Aliens in Paradise on the GB.

you're right. originally Adventure Island was developed by Escape (which was later renamed Westone), but when Escape wanted to make Wonder Boy on the Famicom, they couldn't use "wonder boy" since it was licensed to Sega, so they worked with Hudson Soft who changed some things (like master higgins wearing a baseball cap as well? as changing his hair color from blond to brown). and as they say, the rest is history.
