I quit drinking three months ago after many years of abuse. I'd be lying if I said that it's been totally easy, but it's getting easier, and there are lots of positive sides to giving up. but i am in good shape...my cardio is better than people who don't even smoke and i'm still maiking good muscle gains. i started last feb. at 149 lbs at 10% BF and I now weigh 176 lbs 11-12% BF So regardless if i smoke or get drunk on the weekends i'm still making good gains. i drink vodka when i drink because it has WAY less empty calories than beer. If you get drunk on beer and lets say you have a 12 pack that's over? 1200 calories easy while vodka will have much less. So if you want to stay ripped, and still drink i would say stay away from beer and stick with liquor plus liquor gets you drunk faster :)
