Why isn't my babington burner atomizing?

I've heated it greatly with a propane torch for about 10 minutes, but had no results. This oil is cut with quite a bit of kerosene and lamp oil (which I believe is kerosene). Please help if you can!

first of all that is massively too much oil flow over your air hole.....my one runs really nicely with about 2 or 3 drops per second falling off the bottom of my ball (that i got from homebrewpower who i see has also chipped in here). secondly like others have said on here it looks like your air nozzle is partly blocked, 40psi with that much oil flowing over your air hole should be blowing oil all over your workshop. try tuneing it on straight kero or diesel? before you play with waste oil

Know what! That happened to me. I was in the habit of turning the air off and letting the oil dribble over the? ball. The existing air in the pipe would cool down and contract, thus sucking oil into the hole. After one month of this, the air pipe clogged up with polymerized veg oil! and, no air!

You should be able to hear the air hissing, and should be able to feel the air blast. Double check the hole you drilled for a brass chip clogging the hole. Double check the gauge to? see if accurate. See my Babington 'jackpontiac52' on youtube.

First of all I'd try using something more like a ball ( I use a brass door nob) and drill a 0.3 mm hole in the center. make sure? the oil is flowing over the face of the ball. this works for me and I'm running it at 25psi. Put a gauge on your line up at the ball because it doesn't look like your getting 40psi, looks more like 4psi.

i think your hole is plugged,or your not? getting 40 psi at the nozzle head.i dont understand by the video what the nozzle is made from,looks like a coper t ,or some thing.take your drill bit and see if you can pass it into the hole,if not i believe its broken off in hole .with air on you should feel a brease coming from it and hear a hiss.hope you work it out

Try using a smaller oil feed line, make sure it hits the "nozzle" so the oil is not flooding the holes. The oil needs enough suface area for it to break down into a thin film. Thin film and 140* - 180* is the temp the oil needs to be hetaed to. If you get it around 200*? it make start to bubble when the air/water in the oil is flowing and wil disrupt the flow. I think you said the hole size is .0100 which is a good size. I'm working on a similar burner also.

Raise the air pressure make sure oil is running down the tip make sure it is not clogged adjust oil amount add some gas like a 1/3 mix of gas and oil less gas than oil then turn it on and wait until a stream of smoke comes out then light with a torch.? If no smoke adjust oil flow and air pressure make sure the hole is smaller than a pin that should help
