I'm sure that if u've ever gone to a Capoeira competition you never saw actual punches and kicks but moves that resemble them. Just to be clear I'm not criticizing, I like capoeira the most? between "fighting" styles, I'm just explaining that, nowadays, it is more of a dance than actual fighting. Capoeira was designed to be more of a dace using dodging skills with controlled and acrobatic moves, capoeira fights shouldnt have that name, but some hollywood movies made it seems like it was a martial art. You can't generalize it, though; a? capoeira master could beat a muay thai fighter, but I doubt that he would use mortal combos and gymnastic jumps to do so, any moves can be used as fighting tools if one knows how to make them effective. I practice capoeira and muay thai, very different.

Capoeira is not to be used to fight while preforming it. I suggest you look up? the history. This was born due to slaves looking for alternative ways to practice fighting, without their "owners" becoming suspicious. Alright I just wanted to clarify is all. No beef. My two teachers conflict on this also one say dance one say martial art. But my? mestre who teach grapples, submissions and pressure points say martial art so I go with that. If you are interested in it, I think it's pretty awesome to get into. Not all groups are great I'm sure but the community in all usually are pretty friendly and diverse in so many ways. I train ASCAB under Mestre Doutor. My experience in capoeira have been awesome so far.

Capoeira is a martial art, I think people who say it is not have never tried, read up on it nor been kicked? by someone doing it. It's one of the hardest I've ever did. So before you say it's not an art, try it for 6 months and you'll see for yourself also tell the people there how you feel about it and they'll make sure you feel truth (not beat you up but teach you the truth). yep. couldnt agree more. japanese jiu jitsu(the original jiu jitsu) included striking but it was more for when ur in close. other than that it was all grappeling because it was developed for fighting in an environment with limited space. aikido was developed to disarm samurai. martial arts of all kinds were developed to? suit the needs of those who lived in the specific environment where it was developed

Just got this today. It's clearly meant for beginners. The techniques cover the ginga movements and kicks like roundhouse, side, and hook kicks. I am disappointed in the workout itself which is only about ten minutes? after a five minute warmup, but I still believe this DVD to be a great starting point for myself and others.
