I agree with you about knowing basics but I dont think you deserve to get ripped off. Don't you have a mother or sister that could easily? get talked into a bogus repair. I"ve worked on my vehicles for over 20 yrs and I know enough to not get ripped off but when The last mechanic? would'nt pass my truck because of rust on the brake lines and $900 later, I could'nt help but question whether or not it was necesary but I took the day off from work and did'nt have time to take it somewhere else for a second oppinion. I know more than the basics but what could I do, I had no choice. I should have said no, payed him and took it somewhere else but........

people feel like they get ripped off cuz alot of people dont know even the most basic things about their vehicle. So when someone tells you that your vehicle needs something people have a tendency to think its not true. People who get ripped off I say it serves you right. Take the time to atleast know the basics about your vehicle? and always double check if the work was actually done. Alot of dead beats working on vehicles out there

The district manager even pronounced his last name differently than the reporter as if to correct him yet still denying his identity. All of these places are the old bait and switch because they cant make money on a $19.99 oil change. Even these tire? only stores seem to do other kinds of repairs. Either learn how to do basic car repairs yourself or find a good mechanic with references( mine always shows me the old part he took out) but you still feel like you get ripped off sometimes

Just as? a heads-up, I've been a mechanic for over 10 years, professionally and I have dealt with Jiffy Lube, Valvoline, and most other small lube businesses. THEY ARE NEVER TO BE TRUSTED!! They impact on oil filters (only need hand-tightening), break various bolts/parts w/o telling the owner, and LIE LIE LIE!! NEVER TRUST ANY OF THESE CHAINS!!! TRUST ME!!!!!

i took? my truck to an expert tire last year with a a/c problem. they told me that i needed a new a/c clutch (a 500 dollar repair) turns out, it just needed freon. i only trust the local shops now, not this chain bullshit
