I can see where you'd assume wildflower is a LZ copy - but only because both bands are from England. To compare The Cult to LZ is a bad stretch at best. This isn't even close to an ACDC 'wishy? washy copy'. And I'm pretty sure they fully understand the point of rock - do you? Do you know that musicians make music that pleases THEM? If the fans embrace it all the better. But....you have your opinion as do I - so we'll leave it at that.

Well, now I think you didn't really understand. I never glorified the 90's as a whole, more likely the 80's-90's period. Since proper thrash didn't "die" until somewhere near the mid-, late-90's. Of course you can still find some of the proper stuff today, but not really on the main radio stations. This song in particular, plays around 3 to 4 times on the local rockstation during an 8 hour work shift, which probably is the? main reason I hate it so much.

Well, I hardly think you actually know what you're talking about there, seeing? that you glorified 80's and 90's thrash bands, and being that most thrash died in the 90's :P That's when grunge and nu metal took over, Pantera being the only popular thrash band (actually groove/nu, whatever, it's close) that survived through those times. Well, to me thrash metal is not supposed to be "darker". It's supposed to be fast, energetic, aggressive but with a fun feeling. It's enjoyable to look at and great fun to dance to. This modern day bluster-thrash is just dull and overheard, and it bores down real quickly. I think? I remember seeing them at 2009 Tuska Open Air, and even then didn't really enjoy it. Just look at the 80's-90's bands. That's where the real thrash is.

Ohh.... I know what you meant after listening to that song. You see, it's related to the overall? sound of the thrash style. It's usually darker and keeping itself in a more aggressive tone than other metal genres. Same with oldschool death metal, black, etc. To me, your band sounds cheesier, might be that "swengy" feeling you're talking about, I hear it a lot in modern metal. It's a matter of taste... I kinda like that sound, but I personally prefer this. Not a big fan of growling, also.

To others, this kind of aggression fits the music perfectly to portray the feelings the artist had with the idea of rebellion against lying media, mass control, etc. Music is an expression, and happy-go-lucky is not the only one :) Also, who says this is? not fun? The weird visual effects were a stupid move on Saturday Night Live's part. They have never done anything to any band other than to show them play live. But for The Cult they decided to do some 1960s trippy hippy stuff. Ruins this clip. The reason why they did it was because The Cult weren't the only band featured that night. This night they had two bands doing one song each. The other band was Dream Academy. SNL thought both bands were trippy so they gave us these dumb psychedelic? effects.

I love this band. I have loved this band and have found inspiration from it's music over the years. They still have the sound but I'm quite disappointed in the lyrics poetically. "you are my Lucifer. Working hard for the devil." That's IT? From The Cult? No simile? No metaphor? Someone needs the guts to push them back to the drawing board and write real lyrics, with real poetic value which THEY CAN.? The Cult is one of my poetic heroes and they need to come up to their OWN level of greatness

Well, the truth is between The Souhern Death? Cult and The Cult, they released some stuff as Death Cult. The thing is that the only one in the 3 bands was Ian Astbury since Billy? Duffy, Nigel Preston and Jamie Steward joined him to form Death Cult. I guess it would seem right to say the 3 bands were Ian's music evolution.

I got into this band with this album back in '85, but I never had a chance to? go to one of their concerts until 2001, and I was happy to say they still had all the energy and magic all those years later. I think that before this album they were known as the Southern Death Cult and their style of music was quite different.... or perhaps I'm mixing them up with an entirely different group?

Users commenting the use of Jonestown in the footage are missing the point, its not supposed to be a joke: Its supposed to have happy music and footage of a tragic event to create an eerie atmosphere that is difficult to establish (It's helped tremendously by the great editing). IMO this video is mostly supposed to be for viewers unaware of the Jonestown tragedy who will research? this footage believing it to be joyous to only find an awful story behind it.
