These are my three new Zebra Danios that I just got today to initiate the cycling process in my tank. I hope they survive it. I had Goldfish prior to these (24hrs) but changed my mind and went with Danios to cycle my tank instead.

Chemicals arent the greatest way to? cycle your tank either. I always use fish(usually Danios)to cycle,it always works and I almost never lose any of them. Some say this is cruel,but its time honored and it simply WORKS. The only other way to do it is using water/old media from another tank thats up and running already...but if this is the only tank you have,fish cycle it.

A better way around? would be to have done your research beforehand and read up on this. The most humane way would be actually to invest in another, bigger tank and buy some more Danios to 'dilute' the aggression. injuring another fish is animal abuse, illegal and simply not right - I don't know how you could have even suggested that you fool.

I cycled my 75 gallon tank with 4 Zebra Danios, 4 Golden Zebra Danios, and 3 Pearl Danios over 8 months ago. All fish are still healthy now.? The only one who didn't survive is one of the Zebra Danios, and he is no longer around, due to being eaten by one of my Mini Crabs. Take a look at my channel to see my fish. All of my Danios are now ranging from 1 1/2" - 2" in length. Cycling tanks with fish is still used today, because it works. Some of us dislike using chemicals when avoidable.

You should never use Danio to cycle your tank. Spend the money and get tank cycle bio bacteria. Better yet find someone in your area that has a tank established and when they are? doing a water change get some of their water and ask for some bio media from their filter. This is how I started mine. No stress on fish and great success.

That's dodgy that you had a viscious one, these things are placid as fuck, plus if I was you I wouldn't use these to cycle, they may be hard larl bastards, but after you cycle your tank? these things will become susceptible to fungus, fin rot etc, and your others will catch it, and it will do more damage, they won't have an immune system like these. You should stick a moss ball in to do the silent cycling ;) Works a treat and doesn't do as much harm as using fish to cycle.

In the wild when Zebra Danio's? end up in a small school they will begin to bite each other's fins to mutilate one another. The reasoning behind this is that preditors will eat the weakest fish in the school. If the fish are in a large school than they will assume that another fish is weaker than them and will be eaten first. But when they are in a small school they want to make another fish appear injured to preditors. The best way to do this is to actually injure the other fish.

I was feeding my bottom feeders some wafers and the cheeky Giant danios kept stealing them as the y floated down and swimming about with them in thier mouths! nice video but that leaf fish is a brackish water fish which means it usually needs a little salt in the water, but if its doing fine than there's probably nothing to? worry about.They sell them as freshwater fish in the fish stores. I've never had one though, so i don't know personally how they react, and all fish are a little different with different tolerances. Your tank looks great, and have fun.

Never heard of kissing fish killing each other..Maybe one was? sick and the othe rbecame more dominant.You have to consider your tank size also..mine has plenty of room for each fish to have its own territory.One of my kissing fish died but I think it was just from old age as I have had them since they were tiny babies.

Nice, as long as the Piranhas are well fed they will continue to be vegetarian but if? you forget to feed them they will eat any fish you place in the tank so keep them happy looks like your doing a good job just by your set up Piranhas seem to like lower lighting and warmer water.

I already have WCMM, but there in an aquascape in my bedroom for now, ill move them to a 55 gallon when they get a bit bigger, I cant put them with my goldfish because my goldfish are like pirranahs without teeth, and they are still hungry after 3 feedings a day, morning, a bunch of pinches of goldfish granules, mid day, live bloodworms&vegetables, pellets.

Aaawww...I hate seeing goldfish in tanks - even if it is a 500 gallon tank.? Yes, we sell them for tanks but I try my hardest to talk people out of buying them. Strange thing for a shop to do, I know. Danios are one of the species which live fine with goldfish, provided the tank is room temperature. White cloud mountain minnows probably would have been my choice, maybe mixed with a few zebra danios.

Dont worry no need to apollogize yeah I understand what you mean about breeding methods of the danios but for some reason this ia how they breed the entire time dont why. My guess is that male was using the glass to pressure the female from extracting the eggs. I did see some eggs when I? was filming them but because they move fast most landed between the marbles and since the marbles are clear they are hard to see.

Just to let know you Iam not new at breeding fish and over the years I have seen the danios breed in many different ways even the way they are doing it in this video.? Just so u know unlike some other species Danios use a little? more skill to get the eggs out of the female. The male will wrap his tail around the female and squeeze the eggs out more effectivelly then simply nudging the female. I believe the male in this vid attempts to do so several times, but does not succeed entirely.

Yes,? they have spawned several times, problem is though that usually only one female get ready to spawn at any one time, they don't spawn all at once! I have been too lazy to get them out of the spawning tank yet, so they probably eat the fryes as they hatch!

Hi! The red gills are sign of ammonia poisoning. Ammonia is a chemical produced from the fishes waste. You wanna change the water and use some water solutions like tetra ammonia safe. You can buy them at your local pet store. If the fish happens to have red gills but is still fine just change the water and add the water solution so they fish can? heal and go back to normal. If not the danio can die. :( Im sorry.

Don't worry. Your danio is just old. This happened to every one of my danios at different? times and they were around the same age as yours. The rest of the fish in the tank were fine. I've read that this has happened because of all the inbreeding. It's hard to say how much longer they have. Could be weeks, could actually be months.

A video i took about 4 years ago of my aquarium and the unusual danios i bought , im pretty sure they arnt a pure breed , and ive never seen any similar. The tank wasnt running for that long i encountered problems so the danios emmigrated to a friends aquarium.

These zebra danios are laying eggs in a patch of java moss. Males have gold stripes and females have silver stripes.
