I've read pros and cons on? Dr. Faustman's research, but to me she's an angel of hope for diabetics. My immediate concern as a mother is that the natural insulin is no longer available in America, so many diabetics have to import? their insulin from Canada and England. I will have no faith in the Health Care Business in America,? until they make the natural pork and beef? insulin available to all the diabetics who need it to survive and have quality of life.

If you have children, the chances of them? getting diabetes are the same as any child being diagnosed, so they are at no greater risk at all. Hope this helps :)

@KienjeTheGiant He eats candy because his blood sugar is LOWER than normal and therefore he needs glucose. When you are diabetic you always run into the risk of taking too much insulin which results in low blood sugar levels. And I personally take the shots near my abs and sometimes for? a quicker effect, in my forearm. And no, the vast majority of the time you barely even feel it. You take insulin whenever you eat something with enough sugar.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 9 and have had it now for 20 years. I was always able to keep good control of my disease. About 10 years ago, I? lost control and was admitted to the hospital. There I found out about insulin pump therapy. I decided to go on the pump and become more educated about diabetes and its affect on my life. I think it's important for those with diabetes and their families to get educated - it will save lives.

I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a hammer and has no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from? Canada and it works better for me. I originally was on pork (natural) and? went to synthetic. I couldn't stand being on the synthetic insulin. Please if you can get a one touch basic. it uses photometric testing and is the most accurate. They are no longer available but you can get them on e-bay. I was taken by? ambulance because I had passed out from low blood sugar 32 but the ultra meter said 300 . I wear a medical alter bracelet to only test with serum blood no ultra meters! If you have blood disorders ALL ultra meters will read false high!This is as per makers of one touch . Write to congress to bring back photometric meter

Every time I leave a comment about pork (natural) insulin it is pulled. What are they scared of, the truth? Let people know there are other alternatives if the? synthetic insulin isn't working for them. Obviously the person(s) pulling my comments do not have diabetes or take synthetic insulin. I think I have diabetes. Just recently too. But I don't know what to do and I can't afford doctors. I am a little over weight. I don't exercise much in the past 4 years. Being type one Diabetic, ive heard all kinds of stories about Diabetics not takin care of themselves! Its Scary too think about but its all true ! it really Does Happen ! ive seen it? happen ! My Grandpa isnt here anymore because he didnt take care of himself ! School is Hard For A diabetic, Because everybody else can Have sugar and your all alone with Being Diabetic ! i feel the same way as Nick Jonas ! we need too raise awareness About Diabetes and hopefully Prevent it !

since being a fan of nick's and knowing he suffers from diabetes has made me more aware of the disease i started noticing the symptoms in my mum in 2010 around that time and i kept telling her to go to the doctors to see what was causing the weight loss and extreme? thirst,she finally got it checked around may 2011 and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. so nick did not only change my life he saved my mum's. thank you x

i remember when they had their world tour 2010, i went to the show in auburn hills, MI and i had tickets to go to the soundcheck party, nick didn't look soo good and he kept drinking juice or something, so i think his blood sugar was low that day, but he was ok? for the actual show :)

I saw the show and thought to myself when matt said would I rather my diabetes be better or my life be better? I honestly think that if you really want your life to be better you need to take the time to get the diabetes better. oh then the whole regular soda stuff made me go HUH? I agree with basically everything you said Bill. Being around other diabetics would be one thing they could all use, showing that we do our own thing and control it. I think he was drinking regular pop cause he had seizures before but I usually do one regular drink? mid way through my drinking to keep my blood sugars stable but everyone does it different.

In Australia over the last few years they have implemented healthy eating in schools. Cafeterias don't have pillows, chips, only limited icy poles etc? and minimal greasy fried foods. The have main meals available eg stir fry, casseroles, salads, sandwiches etc. It's a great initiative and the teach the kids about most, sometimes and rarely foods at all stages of education. Hopefully we will see some change in the next generation ! :)

phewww! Im so thankful that I live here in Iceland, because the system here pays 95% of my infusion sets. and 100%? of my insulin and blood glucose meter and strips. and they payed? for my 10.000$ insulin pump. You might think that I had to pay especially for insurance, but no our system gives everyone insurance like your neighbor Canada ;)

Bill; you're amazing in every aspect, although you're not a medical? adviser, you're still a charismatic leader in the diabetes world. I listen to you now, I tried a 6" sub the other day, no cheese, no butter, just chicken and salad, ah that is nice, 8" is too much :) and I came home to a sweet glucose level *happy dance*

After seeing the show last night, I can COMPLETELY relate, mostly to Matt. I am a 20 year old college student that has struggled with issues of being social especially in a drinking environment with type? 1 diabetes. In response to his motif question, I feel that the two go hand in hand. In order for my life to be better, my disease MUST be better. If I drink too much and my blood sugar skyrockets, I feel awful both physically and emotionally for the choices I made. Maybe it's just me?

I'm against the Protect IP Act as written. If it?? passes, then it will be more? difficult for diabetics to import the natural pork &? beef insulin that they need for survival and quality of life. Eli Lilly stated that rDNA synthetic human insulin wouldn't work? for some diabetics and? rDNA human insulin is the only insulin available? in America. Why isn't natural pork & beef insulin protected by the "Orphan Drug Act"? Pork & Beef insulin should be available to American diabetics again.
