I didn't know what the 'black box' concept was, but I came up with something for the x => f => f(x), f is the black box, right?? So when you put x into the box, it comes a part of the box, therefore it becomes f(x). I don't know if that makes sense, but just something I thought of...

I just want to know why the index? of 6 to the radicand 5-x is (in interval notation) (-infinite, 5], yet the index of 7 to the radicand 3x+5 is (in interval notation) (-infinite, infinite). Why wouldn't it be [-5/3,infinite) as I have concluded in my calculation?? Does it have to do with the odd number index? Thus, all odd number indexes would (-infinite, infinite) in interval notation? I'm utterly confused.

lol. good one! maybe in a logical or reasonable world. math follows pointless logic, in my opinion. nothing you will ever encounter in the real world. i surely haven't in my 38 years. but, 1/0 is an impossible? situation. I guess that's a better way of thinking. In other words, you literally can't divide any number by zero. Thus, it is undefined.

@shanglawt look for a pattern. If the denominator is higher than 1 or lower than -1, the end result is always lower. If not, then the end? result will increase. Example: 1/0.5 = 2, 1/0.25 = 4, etc.. If that's true, than what is 0? Surely can't be infinity, because 1/0.infintesimal = infinity. So a denominator of 0 is undefined.

I'm not sure If I am going to explain this correctly... My anatomy professor said it was something? about how, if you think about it, almost all our senses are revolved around vision! It is the biggest part of our daily functions- the brain knows that and so it has to provide for this most important sense which is said to be vision through the many years of evolution. Please double check this though, I am just a student and I only remember my professor mentioning it during a lecture.

vision is our primary sense. it is also right next to the? prefontal cortex (which is to do with goal directed behavior) so perhaps it is large because whenever we set about acting on goals we tend to also need to direct our eyes and attention in that direction. I would think its probably not just moving the eyes about but to do with visual attention as well. just a guess...

@desireepayne That is how the standard graphs look like. Example: The standard shape for f(x) = x^2 is a U-shape, and the standard for square root of x is a curved line going right. There are standard shapes for every function and you just have to memorize it. Google it!? Hope I helped :)

The difference between? the unit-circle graph on the cartesian plane and the graph of the 3 periodic functions on the cartesian plane is that the former (unlike the latter which designates angle as the variable) designates "x" distance as the variable, right? So the graphs of periodic functions graph something that is not explicitly found on the the graph of unit circle (i.e. angles). Rather, it graphs an aspect implied by the x and y distance of the unit circle.
