I wouldn't compare Jaco to Myung. Jaco is a phenomenal bassist, no doubt, but he's in a completely different genre than Myung. There's no way to make a comparison between the two, other than the fact that they both play bass. John, as a progressive bassist, is damn amazing. Jaco, on the other hand, is perhaps one of the best jazz bassists hands down. Don't go comparing the two, because you're just comparing two completely different things.?

Obviously John Myung can play technically better. But I have never heard anyone with as good tone and use of bass effects as Cliff.? I also think Cliff Burton wrote better songs. To say one of these masters is greater than the other would be a reduction to absurdity. They are both awesome as hell. I can vouch for billy though. I saw Via at HOB and Billy played 20+ min bass solo and you know every guitarist there wishes he played that good! Most amazing solo performance i have ever seen by any artist and this is just my humble opinion as a guitarist. My only wish is to see Myung exploit his talents in a solo performance at a? Dream theater show some day =]

Yeah you can't really tell by these solos especially since most of it sounds like crap. I'm? more of a Myung fan but I do like Sheehan's last solo in this video. It was much more musical-sounding than the other stuff. If anyone wants to hear a good Sheehan solo, check out the duet with Paul Gilbert. It's up on Youtube somewhere. Sheehan and Myung are both highly-skilled bass players. I respect both.
