I can't believe some of the people here (with the obvious lack of music knowledge) can say Lauri has a better voice.And why is that, according to you? Because he has a higher and louder voice? Terrible decesion over the stoppage. Khan powered by Roach and Golden Boy seems to be favoured by refs and judges alike. However i was really dissapointed with the way McCloskey fought. He was doing well to avoid Khan's punches, but throwing little always on the back foot. He ceded every round. If this indeed was a? stragedy it was ludicrous. Terrible decison but khan seems to be on the right side of one everytime but McCloskey very dissapointing and showed little!

That was not popular opinion,Khan haters/Maidana fans came out in force before the fight and? a big opinion was Maidana would stop Khan. Khan was always going to be faster and slicker but a lot of people thought sooner or later Maidana would land a shot and stop him, it nearly happened, they were nearly correct. I think Khan is getting better with every fight, his flaws are being tightened up and at 24 the future is very bright, not many will outbox him at this stage in his career

First time I have seen McCloskey fight, and up to him landing the right hook, I gave him no chance against Khan. After seeing the right hook, I give him a glimmer of hope, but wonder how he will cope with Khan's speed. He needs to watch out for the left hook of Khan, cos he drops his right hand too much. ? I think Paul's unorthadox style could be used to upset Khan's rhythm, and we all know Khan can be hit and hurt. I still favour Khan, but I have seen worse matchups.

I need to show this to my physician. He sings in a choir but thinks that because? he is 75 his voice is no longer capable of much more than a little over an octave. I said that it was purely a technique issue and I could expand that range give it better resonance and punch in just a few lessons. Sure, Lauri-Volpi hasn't got the youthful B or the squillante he had years ago but this is still singing only surpassed by the best tenors around today.

But if you take some? different approaches to western music, like the English Baroque Soloists chamber orchestra - which uses reissued versions of the seventeenth century instruments -, you'll notice those differences, I suppose.

For instance, there's the full chromatic system, in which there are 24 notes (C, C-sharp, D-flat, D and so on...), the dodecaphonic system (12 notes - enarmonics are counted once) and early-times diatonic system (6 or 7 notes). In eastern music (Japan, Arabia? etc), they have plenty of notes that are aparted by less than 4,5 commas (and we call 1/4 tone, 1/8 etc)...

@flaze3: they sound the same (it's enarmony, not equality of tone) only in tempered instruments or in non-tempered instruments playing along with tempered ones (say a violin accompanying a piano, v.g.), but that's just because? the tempered system is, nowadays, taken as the standard one. The notes themselves are NOT the same. That's pure music theory and physics. For a practical approach, you might consider that an minor - or rather irrelevant - point. I'm just saying that the difference exists.

I have no idea what you're talking about. The note is the same... it's just named differently according to what scale it appears in. Moreover, darkness or lightness are added depending on interpretation or setting--not to? do with the key of a piece... If you approach the note as two different things, it's like understanding 'plátano' and 'banana' as two different concepts, although they point out the exact same object.

The difference between a Gb and an F#? is simple: each whole tone can be divided into 9 parts called "commas". In a tempered instrument -- let's say a piano --, the semitone is placed 4.5 commas over the fundamental tone and, of course, 4.5 commas under the next tone. But in proper execution of scales in non-tempered instrumments (such as the voice), the '#' is 5 commas above the tone (4 under the next one) and the 'b' is 5 below the tone (4 over previous one). Subtle, but your brain can feel.
