Seriously, Magma is like none other band. Everything they did was new to me, especially their first album. Heavy, dark basslines; excellent, hard drumming, Vander's and Blasquiz opera singing, strange language. It was and after years still is bizarre, hypnotic and strange to me. Wouldn't even? try to label their music in styles like rock, jazz or folk. It's just Magma. One of the most underestimated bands on this planet. Probably I wouldn't know them without net too...

Houlà les mecs faut avoir un peu plus de culture musicale...A l'époque du début de Magma des groupes comme eu il y en avait plein mais qui reste maintenant ? Vander pistonné n'importe quoi? .Un groupe de Jazzeux américain à la fin des années 60 voulaient le prendre pour faire une tournée aux states il a préféré rester avec Magma qui entre parenthèses on voulu le virer à une époque. C'est pas quand ça faute d'avoir connu chet baker kenny clarke etc tout petit ... allons un peu de sérieux .

Je? ne peux cependant pas m'empêcher de reconnaitre une triste vérité dans ce qu'a dit FrizzyDiouleBiGbonus: "ce sont toujours les mêmes qui en profitent", ce qui doit vouloir dire qu'on loupe pas mal d'autres gens, qui ne profitent pas de la même exposition. En fait, il y a, c'est sûr, beaucoup d'artistes qui n'auront pas la reconnaisance, ou simplement le luxe de vivre de leur talent. Heureusement, il y a au moins Christian Vander!

Vander is incredible, marshalling his troops from behind his kit and seemingly eyeballing other band members threateningly lest they should make an error. Gets the best out of a small 'meat and potatoes' kit. When I saw them? at the Royal Festival Hall in London just before the Millenium the TV series "League of Gentlemen" was making waves. Vander reminded me of one of the characters - boggle-eyed East European newsagent nutter 'Pop'.

J'ai répété avec MAGMA en 1975 ou 76(...), Christian Vander m'avait auditionné et accepté, puis différents incidents et problèmes personnels ont fait qu'après une semaine de travail et? bien qu'ayant assimilé une bonne partie du répertoire, j'ai démissionné... Ce sera peut-etre l'un de mes principaux regrets,j'espère que si cela se reproduit dans une autre vie je ne ferai pas la même erreur... Bravo à Christian pour sa tenacité et sa créativité!
