i want this car so bad, its crazy Ive had E46 M3 MK4 GTI VR6 TURBO currently own a ZX10R NINJA and Ive? never wanted any of those as bad as i want this R56 Mini Cooper TURBO spice orange metallic, i would get rims similar to those with nice spacers to widen the stance, paint the bezel around the grill headlights and taillights black tint the windows 20%, get orange and black checkered vinyl for the mirrors and roof, re do the headliner spice orange suede, and put the navigation in the speed

I'm not trying to be an ass, but he's completely wrong when he says that when a pipes diameter is smaller at one point it is "essentially no more free flowing" than that smaller diameter from front to rear. I can tell you this because I'm an engineer. Having a? 52 mm exhaust all the way back is much different than having a 55 mm exhaust with a little piece crushed down to 52. Try blowing through a straw as hard as you can and keep snipping it shorter with scissors as you do and see what happens.

In-fact you lose up to 30BHP with the standard Mini Cooper S factory exhaust system. The aftermarket companies who produce these products do a lot of research as well into the cars they plan to supply so keep that in mind, they? have a business to run you know?

I'm always amazed that aftermarket companies think they know better than a car company that spent millions on research and development! A lot of cars are ruined because people don't know a thing? about gasflow or why it is important to have certan diameters in different places, or why the exhaust needs to be hotter in some places. Hot exhaust gas flows faster. The volume difference in terms of gas between 55&60mm is minimal & gives no more power - possibly less than the factory exhaust. Try it!

Then the only conclusion I can come up with is that you're blind. Look at the tires of the MINI in the video... THEY ARE YOKOHAMA. MINI's never came stock with this brand of tire. Show me a picture? with a stock MINI with those specific wheels. Look at the wheel well space at the MINI in the video - there is nearly no gap whatsoever... now show me a STOCK MINI with that ride height. I bet you can't find one. It's sad that a MINI owner is so ignorant of his own vehicle.

- Sounds like you need to go drive them both! In your situation it's probably going to come down to which you prefer to sit in, and be seen in. The GTI has a far better hang out interior, but the styling is bland inside and out. The Mini is all about it's style and attitude, so if it speaks to you then the GTI will probably seem uninteresting by comparison. Try to test drive a MINI cooper S and GTI in the? same day, ideally back to back on some lot, and you'll probably know quickly.

obviously the guy who did this knows nothing about cars, a jet turbine is terrible for anything other? than going in a straight line at extremely high? speeds unless youre flying, thrust from a jet engine is not nearly as instant as torque from an internal combustion engine. you could have spent less than 1/16 of the money you spent on this and have built to original motor with a turbo or some power adder and dust a ferrari.

Eek I'm afraid to drive my Mini now...lol. But at least in my Mini I feel like I have quite a bit of accident avoidance capability. The couple times where I have had to slam on my brakes or swerve out of the way (California driving yay!) the car has responded instantly. It stops on a dime and maintains control even with drastic steering maneuvers. Honestly, I feel like the Mini's handling has saved my butt on multiple occasions. But then? again, I AM extremely biased.

lol. old mini was designed to be a cheap economical car , thats the only? reason it was built. started off with a 850 cc engine. i had a 1000 cc engine one and was getting 13-14 km per litre. an 850 cc would be even better on fuel. the realised the potential it had and then the cooper s was born 1.3 litre (1275cc twin S.U carbs) .... with mods they are are a pretty quick old beast with lots o character.

Well the reliability is questionable, you may be lucky and get a reliable one. But maintenance is nonetheless going? to be pricy since it is bmw, and to add on top of that; it uses special parts which are rare or have to be ordered. Regular stores/shops always had to order my tire size, brake pad size, or brake sensors. Routine oil changes are $100+. But everything can be done at the official dealer since they have parts on hand, but you'll end up paying more of course since it's dealer

Very true on the good MPG, I have a 2003? S and on highway I can get 42+ in the city I get on it more on and off so I get down to 28 MPG for in town...but I have a heavy foot also :-). Handles amazingly and feels amazingly well planted to the road.

1) This is 1/8th mile. You can tell by the trap speeds (MPH). I think this MINI w/ Jet engine went something? like 10.7 in the 1/4. 2) The MINI uses the stock engine configuration in the front; motor, tranney, FWD, etc. IN addition to that, it has a Corvette rear axle which is driven by the jet engine. Two completely separate systems acting in one vehicle.

Those old Mini's are so cool. I would love to have one. This one is in? good condition too. I always loved how simple they were. They had everything you needed, nothing you didn't. The great gas mileage, spacious interior, and good looks were all bonuses.

Great job guys! How does? it handle? IMO anyone who hates on a mini has never driven one. Sure its fwd, but its prob the best handling front wheel drive car there is. What it lacks in speed it makes up in ability to fit through cracks in traffic and no blindspot. If this thing can handle then the only better thing to drive would be an ariel atom or a formula 1.

Wow what a MINI. we have had a 7.3 Chevy blocked classic Mini do the quarter at our British Mini Showdown (run by the British Mini Club) this year in 9.96(new record) at 148mph but a new MINI has come no where near with a best of 13.6. Pity you can't bring it to the UK? in July 2009 to our next showdown and try and beat our record

Ah, well, my bad, lemme correct my statement. FWD still has it's place, it is quite a challenge getting it to run good times. If it were RWD it would easily be in the 9s. Which is fun and frustrating at the same time. I prefer RWD dont get me? wrong. This has been a fun challenge though.
