gosh. it must have been hard for beethoven when he foound out that he's losing his hearing.. i don't know what i'll do if that happened to me! but regardless of the circumstance, he still wrote heartwarming musique that can make people understand what he really feels (or felt).. may it be sadness, grief, happiness, confusion or even relief,? from this piece. even now, people are still listening to his music, including me! he's a genius! so i hope that everyone could appreciate his music!! :)

Think about Joshua Bell, renowned violinist who had these horrible gestures but when you heard his music, everything went away. Maybe that's what you should do. this video is not about practising, it's juste about music, and performance in front of lot of people. there is good days and bad days for artists too, but they have to play anyway. recently i am practising this piece as well, so I can tell what is meant to be good at piano performance. Although Freddy played? good sound out, he is far too nervous as you can see the hands are shaking much more than what generally accepted. In a long-time performance like this, the most important issue is to relax your own hands while playing, orelse you will fail.

I have to admit that i like Tchaikovsky conducted by Bernstein a lot more. Just compare the 4th movement of both. Karajan needs about 10 minutes whereas Bernstein? takes over 17 minutes. In my opinion Bernstein gave more heart and soul into this symphony. I like this version anyway.

I used to agree with this sentiment, however as I have started composing I have also become a better musician. When I have a computer play my music something is missing; it requires a soul--and each soul will vary. As a counter example, I can write a very simple melody and express it with lots of heart. Written music is the DNA, the "interpreter" or musician is the force of nature. Both are important. Each violinist, bass player, etc. brings spirit. This is why going to? a live event is magical.

Both composer and conductor must exist together and their combined genius elavates the creation of Tchaikovsky to the highest artistic and spiritual level known to man. It's superb----except for the mordents in the first movement. Many performers combine the two notes into a triplet, which isn't correct (although it's very common). The? mordent is two eighth notes followed by a quarter note (Schirmer, among other publishers, notes this). Examples of it would be recordings by Horowitz and Rubinstein, particularly the latter. If that sounds petty, perhaps it is. I like Baremboim's work, especially his recordings of Beethoven.

Even thou his father was White, his Moor of a mother was Black. In Book and movies the alwasy tell you about his mom but rarely show her. So this is my piece for solo ensemble. I picked this piece because it is absolutely beautiful, and why should I play a fast paced song when? this song is equally as hard? I'm a classically? trained pianist. 6 years ago, I stress fractured my wrist, and refused to listen to my orthopedic surgeon regarding rest/recovery. Long story short, I can no longer play the piano, but it was all 3 movements of this piece that ultimately finished off my wrist. I loved it and couldn't stop playing. It is with bittersweet tears that I'm listening to you play.

The only problem with an adult starting piano is that the fingers set somewhat by age 17 or so, and the flexibility needed to do the harder thumb/finger crossings may not be fully achievable. Nonetheless, it's never too late to learn. My grandmother started playing at age 58 and managed to? learn the entire Moonlight Sonata (which, not coincidentally, doesn't require many crossings).

It's always bothered me the elitism that comes with having studied? or appreciating classical music. I do not understand the need for it. So what if Lady Gaga played this piece in her latest music video? Obviously, droves of her fans were struck by the beauty of the piece and decided to look into it. @billabongodrum1 Although the English word "pathetic" derives from the French "Pathétique" the meaning? is not identical. It denotes more of an extreme sadness and tragic hopelessness. Also it was not named by Beethoven, but rather by his publisher, who was impressed by the sonata's tragic sound (especially this movement). (BTW, it was composed in 1798. Beethoven did not start to lose his hearing until 1803.)

really bring out this melody whilst keeping other notes soft, controlled and consistent. there must be a contrast between this melody and the other notes in between. thirdly, the phrasing. i couldnt detect clear phrasing as everything seems to be? in a continuous, undifferentiated loop and makes it a tad more messy. it's difficult for me to point out the specific phrasing without the score but phrasing is v important to bring out the character of this piece.

really master? is requires total control over pedal and also your fingers. to be honest, your pedaling was quite heavy and lacked control. it ended up making your notes very loud and blurry. secondly, your finger control. the left hand accompaniment sounded too loud, while the right hand did not manage to accentuate the melody which is actually the first note of every four quaver counts. hey u played pretty decent, but here's my honest opinion. i think i will go straight into areas which i feel that? are lacking. it's just my friendly opinion, no hard feelings. i believe its impt to know what went wrong so you can improve. praises abound in the comments log and do little to help u improve. firstly, technical issues. obviously there are some slips here and there which i am sure u are well aware of. no big deal. 2ndly, tone and control. this piece looks deceptively easy, but to

You also have a problem with dragging it as you give your 3rd beat. Not very good my friend. good tone i don't like your tempi during the bridge sections. but eh. the reason your'e bassoons don't come in on time at 5:55 is a primary example of why your conducting is not very clear without better use of the baton.

You breathe very loudly. A friend's conductor does the same thing. They say it makes them all synchronize to each other better. If that's what you do then it seems to be a nice? strategy, but it still takes us viewers from the music slightly.

Hi there!!! Arch HighLordOmega!!! I am from Mexico. Dr. Hass's programmes were broadcasted in 88.9MHz StereoMil in Mexico City at 3:00 PM and were translated into Spanish!!? Unfortunately, since there is a very little audience for classical music in my country (even if we have very good performers) the corporate group decided to convert a full classical music radio station into another boring news cast.

I am currently working to build an organization to bring Dr. Haas show back to the public with a new host, and containing archives of the 43 years Dr. Haas left for us. I think it is an intollerable crime that the legacy he left is caught up in petty greed by copywrite mongers. A new show with a new host could weave old excerpts with new commentary, and performances. I KNOW there is a man or woman out there who could do a good job keeping Dr.? Haas' contributions to society alive !

Oh, I couldn't agree more with you, Dr. Hass's programmes were so insightful and for me as well, they were like an oasis in the middle of the day (in my country his programmes were broadcasted at 3:00 PM). Although this might not be the best interpretation of Beethoven's Pathetique 2nd movement (for me? the best is Alexis Weissenberg's version), it certainly made me remember too...

This isn't the best recording in the world, but I truly believe Beethoven was proud to see Schnabel play his music. And now, I bet they're playing together in heavenly bliss ! hehe. Dr. Hass used to play a few bars from a recording of this for his show on NPR, and then say " HELLO EVERYONE !! " Man I miss that ! It? was my natural valium for the end of the day ! Ahhh... Nastalgia !! >;^ )

Well, there is really no "correct way of practice" but there are always "better ways" of practicing, and also, one does not really apply to everybody. What i meant is, if something's effective for me, it may not be effective to you and so is otherwise. You get what i mean? So do what's best and what works for you well. I'll be playing this whole sonata for my graduation recital. I will start practicing it by late March. I'll be practicing by? sections. :D
