The reason this piefight works and in "The Battle of the Century with L&H, is the pacing. Not everyone starts throwing the pies all at once. It is gradually built upon. That's why, for me, the fight doesn't work as well in "The Great Race". Also, in "TGR", I believe the pies were whipped cream. L&H used real pies and the stooges used a combo of marshmallow cream, ground pumpkin and molasses. This probably accounts? for the stickiness and consistency of the pies.
