What entitles me? Being human, at first, and being a citizen that pays taxes, in second place. None says a physician should be forced to do anything for free. Besides the fact that he has taken an hippocratic oath, the vast majority of western countries have public healthcare nets that take care of the? doctors payment. When I got cancer I got free treatment.I could not work so the government gave me some money while I was sick.Not a massive amount,but just enough so I could keep the lights on and not lose everything. I'm British,we pay national insurance.It's not much? but if you work you pay it. I find nothing wrong with this,and it stops our private Hospitals charging silly money. I don't think there's anything really wrong with private healthcare in the US apart from the 'previously existing condition' clause. It's expensive but at least our taxes are? low which encourages investments both local & foreign (my source on this is Australia's public healthcare system; it works great but taxes are pretty high and it doesn't cover everything e.g. they'll pay the hospital bill but not the ambulance bill).

Thanks to Obama for leaving it out, it is unlikely that the bill will be implanted and would replace the? unfortunate and more con-traversal less effective Mandate. Without any serious push for such an idea, to replace the individual mandate with the public option I don't think it will happen soon. The Community doctor I know is ok with providing treatment to people on low incomes.? He'll make just a little less than a Privbate doctor, but he will actually keep more of his money. This is why? The Fed pays all the community doctor's malpractice insurances, but if you are a private doctor you'll have to charge a little extra to each patient just to afford his malpractice insurance.

There actually are public options out there. They are called 'Community healthcare clinics.' Community clinics are federally and publically funded. They charge their patients on the basis of income and family size. I know of a clinic that charged its patients a minimal of $15 per visit, including blood tests. Medicare is a public system that already exists and requiring working-age people to pay their way would keep the change budget neutral. An amendment to Rep. Grayson's analogy about only seniors being able to use federal highways: only seniors are able to? drive on them, even if working-age citizens *want to pay* for the right with their own $. Yeah, it does suprise me that even Cenk keeps suggesting the U.s. "see if a public option works," the proof is already there in? those countries. The question is whether the general populace want it.
