With UDK you can make same things as with mod for? UT game, and a bit more. App will be standalone therefore you are restircted to use mostly your own content. You cannot sell it if you won't buy a liscence, but UDK liscense is way cheaper than UE liscence (where you get more freedom and pay from less to none of your revenue to Epic). You can read licensing page on UDK site. If you just want to make non-commercial game or educational application, it's free and got enough of features.

Nice videos. I'll be sure to refer to them in the future (I just got Maya 8.5 full version and will be teaching myself). One question, is it best to use ZBrush (I also have that) for simple polygons then transfer to Maya to do more advanced stuff? And is photoshop just used for creating textures? I notice something in? pretty much any physic animation: It's very lifelike but obviously not real. I think this happens because the rate of falling is somehow not the same as real gravity. Everything is just too calculated.

You may want to use a dynamic impact collision. Check out all of the tutorials on My You-Tube channel and look for the Create a dynamic impact? collision. Great tutorial, thanks. I'm working on a project in which letters? have to fall off a kind of business plate on the wall, four letters to be exact. Is there any way to randomize the timing when they actually starts to fall? Maybe one or two is attached to the plate with a pin and it holds them back or something. I tried it with nCloth simulation but it was a huge failure. Also tried keyframe animation, that was even worse:) Keep up the good work, you're awsome, thanks

Thanks for replying so quickly, I have 2011 at my university but I don't think the shatter effect is any better. I've looked into using the free Pulldownit plugin but I would need to upgrade for the proper effect. I can kind of shatter an object now BUT the? pieces (or shards) don't collide with each other well at all and instead just pass through each other. Help with colliding shards would be really welcome when you have the time. Again, cheers for the reply!

My Mac version of Maya 2009 had some weird bug that would never work with the shatter effect. I just upgraded to 2011,so I'll see if I can make it work and do a tutorial if possible. For the meantime, check the Maya Documentation in the help menu to get an idea of how it's used. Also, there's some plugins that? may work better so google that and you'll get some more options.
