The innate problem you'll run into with this design is the simple fact that any weapon not specifically suited to 1 task will never surpass a weapon that is. This weapon as configured for sniper use will NEVER be better than a dedicated sniper-designed rifle. At the same time, configured for CQB this will never be as effective or useable as something that is specifically? intended for it. And then there's the user, snipers snipe, fighters fight, they don't usually do both jobs.

True, the modern day soldier wouldn't really need that. It's added weight, and rather time? consuming to change uppers. I like the design of the upper though, the left side charging handle is much more accessible than the right side (AK-47's) or hind/top sides (M4, G36C) for a regular right handed shooter. It's still a basic AR, though. Recalling the old MG42, the change of barrels there was actually pretty good, but mixing that with AR's, it doesn't make much sense. I still do like the LWRC PSD.

No way in hell, it's a nice firearm don't get me wrong, I would love one. But they are talking about switching from a CQB to long range compatibility. Along with the similar operating system as the AR-15, they can give it to any soldier who is use to a AR (i.e. M4, M16) and they will be able to operate it under stress. Especially if a malfunction occurs, having the same placement of the charging handle, they can clear the weapon fast enough without thinking to save a life or their? own.
