I own both games, and loved both, actually. I am just a little disappointed that, thinking back on both games, I can't even distinguish which worlds were in which? game, as the games were just so similar. I really tried to like the second one, it just fell short IN MY OPINION. Its not like I'm just all out bashing the game, as I did enjoy playing both. I just don't believe that the game should have gotten a perfect score, as it wasn't perfect. Plus they dumbed down the level select.

The music for me is good. Original tracks in the first SMG have more? variety than the ones in SMG2 because most of the SMG2 ones have that same intro. But I thing the remixes in SMG2 are better than the ones in SMG1.

And actually, I disagree with the whole music? thing. I feel like the music this time is more impressive. I feel like people gave too much praise for it the first time ONLY because it was orchestrated...instead of actually listening to it. Yeah, the orchestra makes it sound "epic" when it makes bombastic sounds, but it's really dull, to be honest. Now that they made more melodious tracks, but since that whole "shock" of the music being orchestrated is gone, people are more critical of it.

I was kind of bummed as well about the world map selection screen...but if the ONLY purpose is to get to the levels, like in Galaxy 1, why make it large? I would've been happy if they created a hub world? like in Sunshine or Mario 64 where the hub worlds serve a bigger purpose and have lots of secret levels and stars

I totally agree. It was just too easy, and too linear, and lacked the exploration elements, and the secrets in the nice big hub world. Planet Observatory was pathetic. Galaxy 2 fixed the difficulty part and made the game have more of a "Mario" feel, but it was still too linear. They changed the? hub to be practically nothing so that you can just jump into the levels, which is better than the Galaxy 1 approach, but I'd still prefer something like Delfino Plaza.

Super mario sunshine was one of my first games, and yes i agree with you, i also think mario kart on the wii was downgraded so much from the version on the gamecube, i enjoyed the tracks on the gamecube more, the opsticals, and the wii version was misses so many? features, like racing in the same car as your buddy (as a team) and bomb battle.

HD isn't gonna revolutionize Super Mario, but I bet it will play a nice part, as small as it may be. I just hope Nintendo keeps coming up with brilliant new ideas. I mean, 64 was the leap into 3D platforming, before it came along? everyone thought platforming was dead. Sunshine may be a little environmentalist, but added the squirting/throwing something mechanic that several games use nowadays and Galaxy, with it's gravitational turning journeys, added a whole new dimension to the genre.

It did not run out of ideas. A completely new perspective on the action, which is not w explarative yet still 3D. The original power up system from the original, and new powerups and stages. BEAUTIFUL GRAHICS AND MUSIC. It was not lazy. The levels that you named were the special levels, which were mad on? purpose so it could add more diffuculty as a reward for the core players. As for the casual, they could of just played till world 8.

The argument is based upon a lack? of understanding on the meaning of graphics. Graphics are just the tech, aesthetics are how it looks. The Wii has bad graphics, but the aesthetic of Galaxy is, frankly, amazing. So good developers can give Wii games better aesthetics than the hd consoles, but they have to work harder to make up for the bad graphics.

this game was amazing, buitiful graphics, fun gameplay, good music. only problem was that the storyline sucked. Mario &? Luigi Bowsers inside story managed to pull of a good storyline, I don't get why nintendo was lazy on purpose with the storyline in super mario 3d land. Yes, I know story isnt required to make a game good, but it certainly does improve it. take zelda for exsample.

I prefer sunshine and 64 to the galaxy games, i like exploring colorful worlds, I dont really enjoy hopping from one tiny planetoid to another to do some neck straining puzzle. Mario lost its sense of exploration and feel-good factor, now its just? repetitive starry backgrounds with annoying nauseating camera angles, its still fun, but definitely way overrated.

I dont have anything against orchestral music but i hate when they overuse it or just put? orchestral music for the sake of it! About Super Mario 3D i odnt know i cant really remember it its all blurry but i think it was OK i remember i sorta liked it also goddamit i realyl want a Wii and maybe a PS3 i want to play M.Galaxy series unfortunately im stuck with a PS2 =(!

He totally should. Fun fact, even MIYAMOTO feels that the orchestrated music doesn't fit Mario...but he agreed this time because he only felt? it went with the "galaxy" feel. But since there'll probably be no more Galaxy games, I think the orchestral music can be put to rest. What do you think of the music in the Super Mario 3D trailer? I wouldn't mind a live big band playing some of that. :)

Yeah? the more easy levels should have a more carefree vibe like the first level in Mario 64 while the more harder dark themed ones should have a bit more intense music Koji Kondo should just do all the music and call it a day xD!

I don't mind the music in Mario Galaxy like, the remake of the Mario 64 Bob-Omb Battlefield in Throwback Galaxy. THAT one was great. It was orchestrated, but not with a full orchestra, instead, with a big band. They should have more music like that. One of the main ones Koji Kondo actually DID compose was the Yoshi Star Galaxy theme, again, look how carefree that one is. Although, Koji Kondo can do some pretty epic ones, like the? Bowser level theme in Mario 64. (original was best)

I find the soundtracks to be quite overrated as well. But I will say Mario's soundtracks have been very good from Mario 64 and before that, when Koji Kondo was? the one doing all the music (Mario 64 being my favorite). I feel like everybody's giving Mahito Yokata too much credit that I feel is very undeserved. The soundtracks sound too cinematic for Mario, and they're just not that impressive. Get rid of the orchestra, nobody would think he's impressive.
