I never use whistle tuners (pitch pipes) - though I must say I have never heard of anyone destroying their hearing with one - and neither have you I use an A tuning fork and tune the other strings to it. It takes me a matter of seconds - as fast and as accurate (as i have proved) as an electronic tuner. Alternatively, if I am at home I tune to my piano. The point is I can tune anytime anywhere without any kind of aid? at all - a skill worth having and not gained by relying on electronics..

What a stupid argument !- comparing tuning the piano with tuning a ukulele. Electronic tuners are great for ensuring your instrument is in concert pitch - very important when? playing with others. But any violin, ukulele, guitar, banjo or mandolin player should be able to tune their instrument (with itself) without electronic gizmos. Learning to tune an instrument helps train your ear. I often use an electronic tuner for my guitar - but I am capable of doing so without it.

However, BDM was removed from Sesame Street because he was too scary, specifically in the Kermit Sound of B sketch. Yup, the c and e strings take some work! You have to go all the way through the e string and rest on the a. I call it "following through." Otherwise the pad of your finger may be still touching the e string and? muting it!

there is never anything wrong with whatever technique you want to use to make music. if you use? a pluck or an upstroke, then you are not using the clawhammer technique, but that does not mean you are wrong or making bad music. Keep it up!

i just learnt off another video of the same method. instead of bring ur hand toward the uke to make that first melody note (which i dont really understand) you just pluck the top string. is there anything wrong? with that or is it just not traditional

Thank you Mrs. G. Just trying to set the record straight. I raised my kids on this music and it is just? great stuff! Plus Arlo's story telling is the best. Where I live I don't get to see the rest of your kids, but I did take my daughter and her GF to see Folk Uke in 06 and 07, just love the heck out of them. Guthrie music has helped me through a few million miles out here on the road. You might enjoy the videos and strories on the road I post here,I make them for my mother mainly.

I want to respond to wompeter1 who said that the whole Guthrie Family is riding on Woody's coattails. I hope I can get you to look up what all Arlo has accomplished. He certainly is not? riding on anything. He has produced dozens of albums,and hundreds of original works, you won't fine a better story teller anywhere. The Guthrie Family: Lawrence Welk for the Woodstockers. I saw their concert, and it was so CUTE it made me slightly ill. Lisping babies, stale jokes. Sorry, can't get on board for a modestly talented songwriter whose? family is all riding on Woody's coattails. If not for the Guthrie name, none of these people would be considered special. And they all "ape" the Woody style: cornball accent, songs written "Woody style"--but they don't achieve anything Woody ever did. Overwhelming cuteness.
