And it just comes back to the issue? of Money. Always money. You are right. (People are turning money into an Idol. Money is being worshipped.)

That's a huge misinterpretation. Honestly I think that just because a person smokes, it doesn't mean that that person is bad. (I go to a church, and two people I know of smoke outside.) On the other hand it is a pretty addictive habit. Some of things I learned about? it is that it causes hair loss, rotten teeth, and messes up your lungs.

Between 1958 and '63, Kneitel's unit came up with some very offbeat stories, even with the production budgets the studio were forced? to make do with...unfortunately, Paramount's "front office" was only concerned with how much revenue they could squeeze out of these cartoons [which is why the 1959-'62 "inventory" was eventually sold to Harvey Films as well].

Wow....so cool. I also love these old cartoons, even the cheaper more 'throw-away' efforts like this one. Best of all, serves to remind what an infinitely better place the world was back then, when a man could make his own choices and was free from the ridiculous strictures of brainwashed health-mongers and evil government statisticians. Those were the days, kids!? ;-)

I actually like Paramount's? cheap cartoons. Why? Well, because they're cheap, right?

Just horrible, which is to say really great find. From the lack of humor, to the sexist and pro smoking stand to the obvious lack of understanding in regard to the "modern" animation of the? day: It's awful. ...and that really speaks to time, place, and the changing industry. Great find, and thank you for sharing.

This a very pro-smoking cartoon afterall. The wife is annoyed because his smoking dirties the house not because its bad for his and her health. And in the end? he was able to shut his wife up by giving her coupons found on cigarette packages so she could fulfill her materialistic desires. So, the problem was never the cigarettes but his wife. (which is a very anti-feministic portrayal of women btw) It was a wise choice never to show this on TV.

This is just strange :) I guess I've? been a bit spoiled, seeing stuff that filtered (ahem) through generations before being shown on TV to me as a kid. This was fascinating to watch, though. The escape was kind of funny. I wonder how this would have played if it had been with alcohol...
