I wouldn't include the 90s though. I don't know if you're from the U.S. or U.K. but they were putting out some amazing music then. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, Rage, Sublime, Beck, Collective Soul, Tupac and hip hop in general, and on and on. The 90s were amazing to live through when great music was pouring out the radio every time you turned it on. For me everything started going? downhill around 97-98 and has been getting worse every year.

Yeah I meant most of the 80s bands starting somewhere in the early 80s. I wasn't sure what year exactly digital hit the scene but I knew it was early 80s. So most 80s music consisted of digi synths, which I agree sound like shit. Analogue has a natural warmth? that digital can't reproduce. The Beatles scarcely used synths but Zeppelin, Steve Miller, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake and Palmer all made great use of analogue synths especially Floyd. I like the moogs and EMSs in particular.ARPs not so much

Interesting interview on BBC Radio 2 with Gary recently. GN was oblivious to the fact his early stuff was popular with? hip-hop street Dancers, spinning and popping to in the 70's. Gary started as a punk act, but discovered synths by accident. He wasn't a pioneer of electro punk but certainly brought the big electronic sound production into peoples conciences. Synths gave more bang for your buck. It takes skill and effects pedals to do it with guitars, syths sounded supernatural .

@Johny40Se7en i totally agree, before the "noughties" and the late 90's music was more about that musician expressing their passion but now we have shitty "bands" like the Saturdays who are only intrested in making a hit i.e. money. When they copied Depeche Mode's- I Just Can't Get Enough really pissed me off because? that's such an iconic 80's song and the Saturdays are the crappy sort of pop groups that people like Simon Cowell put together. So yeah 80's FTW.

Hi Vikram, I hope you are keeping well? No, it's not a K tone, sometimes it gives out a callsign in CW but because of the QSB I couldn't read it. It does give out a K at the end of every stations over. It really does sound like a repeater to me. Can you hear it?? Have a listen and see if you can hear it. Hi Micky, yes it was moving quite fast plus the camera's not that good in the dark. The ISS is a lot brighter and bigger than? it looks here and you'd see it with no problem. I use a satellite tracking program so I can see where it is, thats how I know when it's going over. Cheer's Micky.

I dont Agree with this sputnik first in space thing the German V2 rocket in WW2 could go to space it didnt orbit but? it did go past the atmosphere the sputnik and yuri were the first to ORBIT earth (and the USA used German Rockets to go the ze Moon)

As a Ham since 1982, I'm in awe of some of the rig-building done by some of these SW free radio stations and their dedication to radio. I have to admit it was Radio Caroline that first got me interested in radio as a small kid, the thought of a ship out there in the North Sea playing records and I could hear them here hundreds? of miles away was magical. Add the word "pirate" to that and it had it all.

This reminds me of listening to UK water based pirate radio in the sixties. They broadcast just outside the 3 mile limit for 3 years or so. Fizz,? crackle and pop it might have been, but I couldn't turn it off just in case I missed something. Fab!!

Regardless, I run all my rigs through the same external speakers (with DSP) so all sound roughly? similar. Since my hearing is quite accustomed to that sound, it's much easier to transition from one radio to the other. My FT-767GX drives those speaker very nicely.
