@lockdown260 Granted, Americans still make better engines than Europe does and Ford does produce great American cars. However, the American cars that Ford actually produces are only a handful (one could argue the Mustang is the only truly American Ford car left, since the Ford GT and Thunderbird went out of production). Most Fords now are European? or Japanese. The same goes for GMs and Chryslers ( with few exceptions). However, a lot of good American cars are under Japanese names.

At least, American cars that come from American brands are usually inferior to their European? counterparts (again, with a few exceptions). Of course, before the early 1970s, the exact opposite was true. During that period, if you were upper-lower class American, you probably drove a better car than the Queen of England.

@Idoloish The result of Shelby's meddling and superior American parts and engineering (remember, this is the 1960s, when American cars were? still #1 and by a gigantic margin) was the GT40 Mark II. It was the American Mark II that went on to humiliate Ferrari and become more infamous than the European Mark I. This was followed by the American Mark IV, until the rules changed. After that, the Mark I raced, but not before having its suspension and other parts replaced by American parts.

@Idoloish In fact, the GT40 Mark I was so horribly built by Europeon engineers, that Henry had to put Carol Shelby in charge of the project (testament to the poor European quality was the Mark I's suspension failed during a test run).? Shelby even remarked how poorly designed the GT40 was. He had to almost built a completely new car (new transmission, new engine, new suspension and an almost completely new chassis and body).

If so, then why retain the clutch pedal? @TheSmokingTire This is a really nice video. I appreciate the driver insight and the comments about pacing and dynamics of the car as the tires wear and other endurance racing considerations. The in-car footage is great! This looks like a pretty interesting race. I've never heard of it before today.

Just because you pay a cheap price for it off the lot, doesn't mean its not going to eat you alive in maintenance fees. If you're looking to go cheaper in purchase price and maintenance? @holtaa No stock ZR1 has broken 180 in the? Mojave mile. Someone did it in Texas, but that's at sea level vs. Mojave's 2800 feet of elevation, which makes a huge difference, much more so than me being fat or not driving properly, which make almost no difference in standing mile events.

Funny video. I guess no one told him the launch doesn't matter. You can cruise the first half of the mile and then hail it? at half track and run exactly the same speed. It's all aerodynamics, gearing and horsepower. My ZR1 ran 175 also. Seems about the standard speed for most ZR1s. My headers, tune, filter Z06 ran 178. And there's no way a stock GTR ran 179 that day as the guy in the video said. They were running low 160s the day I was out at the Texas Mile.

@derbigpr500 there was plenty of exposure with multi-hundred foot drops, and one driver nearly died when his car went off a bridge and? the guard rail ripped the entire side of the car off. Although prescott is a fast rally with relatively good surfaces, there are still plenty of places to die there.

Someone needs to make a GPS device that can detect when you're on the Nurburgring, and gives you pace notes as it tracks your progress. If it worked perfectly, it would make the Ring safer and more fun for those? who don't know it by heart yet. If it worked anything less than perfectly, it would kill hundreds of people, and the legend of the Green Hell continues. It's win-win!

the reason it doesn't have 100 bhp more is because the car can't? handle it! it's carefully engineered to deliver maximum fun with decent amount of power. if they add 100 bhp more they have to tune the engine, suspension, turbo boost, steering and even add weight to strengthen the car's components to keep all those horses down..

The Canon 7D ( T2i, T3i etc uses a dumbed down version of this sensor ) Canon 5D mark II, etc are in the pro-sumer section. Instead of canon spending additional R&D on a lower Mp sensor they just use a dumbed down version? of the 7D sensor ( which is great for a 1.6x crop APS-C ) with less read outs. And true it is a war, but that's how companies compete and bring down prices.

Your review of the bike was absolutely spot-on. Vibes past 5000 rpm at high speed are annoying. However, apparently the solution is to put weighted bar ends on the handlebars. Despite being a simple solution they apparently drastically reduce the vibes allowing the rider to actually use their mirrors at highway speeds. I'm looking forward? to trying this for next spring.

I'll admit to a bias, I work as a parts guy at a Dodge dealer. But that said, this car can do 90% of what a Stang can and 100% of the Camaro. Even at 4200lbs. Yeah, the girl needs a diet I admit. But having driven all three up and down Montezuma grade out of Borrego Springs and all through that area, the 2011 SRT8 Challenger is the easiest to drive of the three. The 2010? GT500 was flighty, and the 2011 Camaro felt heavier than the SRT even though it isn't. I ordered a 2012 SRT8 3 days ago.

If only Hyundai decide to put a 5.0 on an new design coupe in the future, I bet their pristage would go up tremindously. I dont really care for current coupe design. Hyundai was smart by not creating a luxury line to sell these upscale cars during recession. Also, plz do not follow the current luxury cars' trend by not selling a? car with same spect but a different badge(price). You guys are on my rader, keep up the good work Hyundai.

@jutuz first of all, I own a Q7 and a sonata. But hyundai recently got my attention. I? just happen to look up specs of both cars and reviews, and seemed a little biased to me. Just because he drove one, it doesn't mean that his opinions are facts. In fact, most people out there call a mustang a poor amerian's sports car, known to have heavy and bulky handling, can't overcome that reputation. Btw, wait for the new Genesis Coupe. The all new genesis coupe is released in Korea, I believe.

Part 2: They try to? make it entertaining, rather than just an informative "Motorweek" kind of show. When they do so, much like the American version of Top Gear, it seems too much like they are trying to be funny, rather than they are simply, funny, like the UK Top Gear is. It is often boring, Adam Corolla can't drive ruining important segments, is the most annoying person on TV, and there is almost no chemistry between the remaining 3 hosts. The concept is good, but the mix of hosts is bad.

We've seen the complete first season and the prevailing problems with this show have become apparent. John Sally wasn't adding anything, so he was dropped. They also reduced the show to 30 minutes from a full hour. Either they didn't have enough good material to keep it interesting for a? full hour, or people can't take Adam Corolla's voice for more than 30 minutes before getting a brain aneurism. AND Corolla crashed both the Mustang and BMW M3, totally screwing both those episodes. Ax Adam!

As was the 2000+ DTS. The new CTS-V can't say it's the fastest sedan anymore, sadly-- BMW's new M5 (out next year) is a bit faster. GM is going to have to go to work again before Zee Germans beat them to the punch.

Air is oxygen plus "other stuff", but you need oxygen to create a powerful explosion which generates power. Of course you get the more oxygen the more air you compress, but in the end the oxygen-richness of the air is decisive. Lots of "thin air" will not give? you great power - and that is what the presenter implied. Fail.

At altitude, efficiency decreases because atmospheric pressure is lower. The turbocharger's job is to increase volumetric efficiency in the engine, which is made even more possible at higher altitude, since it can force more air into the now pressure-deprived cylinders. Therefore, it works better at high altitude.

Hi Love your show! I don't know if you did mean that Keyless entry, satnav, voicecontrol, parktronic, backup camera, sideview camera all this can you add to your S60. But you maybe meant that this isn't included in? the standard equipment. (exept heatedseats thats in the standard? ) But that's isn't it in a ford focus eirher..? And correction all Volvo S60 with adaptive cruise control has now queue assist! Keep on making nice reviews!

Two things: Turbochargers work great at altitude? Really? You know what turbos do, right? They compress air, and push it into the engine.? Turbocharged engines rely heavily on oxygen-rich air, and at altitude, you don't have that. So the opposite is true: turbo'ed engines lose more power at altitudes than normally aspirated ones. Secondly, I'd be careful relating high corner speeds to AWD. 4x4 only gives you good traction in a straight line, it does not necessarily improve lateral grip.

The first thing that comes up is production halts due to lack of parts from Japan). GM (Chevy) has felt these part shortages as well. All american car company's are in the same boat.

@TheJuanlozanoism The parts needed are likely to be computer parts in the car.. If you know the Japanese and computers/electronics, they are much more advanced than we are. To be honest, Ford is smart to be using those parts for their vehicles. Its not like were buying 4 banger? engine blocks or ricer shit, just the computer parts...
