Yeah, all flash video? drops frames in Vista. Supposedly it's better in XP, but I haven't tried. I'm not sure about Ubuntu, so I'll give that a shot tonight. I do have Ubuntu installed, but I couldn't get teh wireless drivers working though. Since I'm going to be reformating and installing XP I didn't want to waste a whole lot of time on it for now. I will be installing Ubuntu again though. It sounds like there are a lot of issues with SLED on there. They didn't really configure things right. Most? people are switching to XP or Ubuntu from what I've read.

Poetx213 I just purchased me 1.2Ghz Mini-Note and my computer came with 2GB of ram and Windows Vista Basic. I love it so far the only thing is that it can at times be really slow and has a really hard time running videos. this dosent bother me to much because i more than realize that it is not made to be? a powerhouse, but i was wondering if it is at all possible to replace the C7M 1.2 Ghz processor to maybe a 794 C7M model which is clocked at around 2.0ghz and if it can be done how would it.

NEED MORE CPU POWER! the via C7M is soldered into the mobo (nice one via ^^), but i don't think it's impossible to do. the nano/isiah is a 64 bit same-sized cpu, but there is also a 2.0ghz? "794" C7M model, to think about. we need to find someone brave enough to take this on and tell us how it's done!

Yeah, but right now, not many are on sale -- unless bought with the hard drive. I did manage to snag one and convince the seller to ship overseas for an OK price. Next time they go for cheap, I'll stock up. Regardless, this is what I'll do from now on: leave the cable connector inserted, but unscrew? and flip out the hard drive, detach the SATA data+power block, mount the new drive in the bracket, then re-insert the block. This way, the cable remains unmolested.

Great video, but this method will only work if your mini-note shipped with a hard drive, the SSD model doesn't have that HDD bracket, it's completely different and a normal hard drive won't fit inside, just a SSD board. As a side note, the original 4GB SSD board has only 2 of 16 memory? slots populated with 16 Gigabit SAMSUNG chips. One could easily find cheap NAND flash memory from some 2GB USB thumb drives and populate all the slots giving a 32Gigabyte SSD!!

What is not emphasised here is that the SATA connector is very easily broken when you "unplug" it as shown here at around 3.07 minutes. The plug is surface mounted on the brown flexy strip, and the act of unplugging? it can easily partly tear it of the flexy strip, and you 2133 no longer works ! And even worse H.P. does not sell this SATA connector separately, it comes only with a new HDD. Treat it very carefully.

This is a very slow system with a very slow out dated processor. This laptop came out before the Atom processor. Battery life is only 1.5 hours if you? get the the $400 model, 4 hour for the $640 model. Get the the New Acer One 160 gig, 6 cell battery with the Atom Processor for $400 instead....

The thing about firefox is that it depends on how many tabs we are talking about, and also if one is loading several youtube videos in different tabs, that? adds up a lot. Hey, thanks for replying. What about usual series and movies which are 700mb or 350mb format? From what I've read those? are lower than 480p (720x480p), however some videos are like 632x516 (just an example), would they work? In some forum I read someone commenting they could play Superbad 700mb fine without frame dropping. Most downloaded movies are like 652x272 (when format 2:35 instead of 16:9) so I suppose they should work fine. Thanks

Probaly not... It struggles with 480p Quick Time trailers, and the 720p ones are terrible. I also tried? a 720p WMV file and it dropped a lot of frames (was just as bad as QuickTime)

Yeah, all flash video drops frames in Vista. Supposedly it's better in XP, but I haven't tried. I'm not sure about Ubuntu, so I'll give that a shot tonight. I do have Ubuntu installed, but I couldn't get teh wireless drivers? working though. Since I'm going to be reformating and installing XP I didn't want to waste a whole lot of time on it for now. I will be installing Ubuntu again though. It sounds like there are a lot of issues with SLED on there. They didn't really configure things right. Most people are switching to XP or Ubuntu from what I've read.

Thanks for the excellent video. I've installed a lot of RAM, but this one looked tougher!! After 3 yrs I got the courage to pop a? 2GB...the installation was a breeze. Crucial CT1867692 2GB, 200-pin SODIMM (2GB, 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM) for $25. The slow processor, VIA C7-M ULV, will always be kind of slow, but the programs pop-up a lot faster! Thanks again!! A general comment: 32-bit goes up to 3 GB of RAM, anything more needs 64-bit.

Thanks for the video. It works exactly the same on the Mini-note? 2140 even though the motherboard, cpu and display are slightly different. The case seems to be exactly the same. It opens exactly the same way and the ram slot is in exactly the same place. Upgraded mine and it works great.
